Fives Group is seeking a Mechanical Designer
Under direction from the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Designer is responsible for engineering changes, design standards, mechanical design and detailing, and continuous improvement.
Expectations:• Development and continuous improvement of Wurtec drawings, BOMs, modeling standards, and additive manufacturing efforts.• Efficient and effective design of components and systems.• Innovative and creative development of elevator installation, maintenance, service and safety tools and equipment.• Be a visionary, offering ideas for improvement to management.• Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset.
Duties and Responsibilities• Model parts using SolidWorks; create assemblies, part drawings, inspection criteria, and other drawings as required.• Perform finite element analysis using SolidWorks simulation.• Generate and complete Engineering Change Requests.• Checking and quality assurance of engineering changes as required.• Generates bills of material (BOM).• Data entry and maintenance of BOMs in ERP (Epicor).• Designs and details mechanical components and assemblies.• Designs labels and tags.• Accepts all projects and tasks assigned from the Mechanical Engineering Manager and sees them through to completion.• Works to increase engineering department efficiency and knowledge.• Recommends methods and procedures to enhance engineering operations.• Operates with a VAVE (Value Analysis, Value Engineering) mindset.• Supports training/communication between the shop and engineering.• Complete projects efficiently without sacrificing quality of work.
Preferred Education & Experience:• Associate degree in a related field and a proven track record• CSWE-Mechanical Design or CSWP-Mechanical Design• CSWPA-SM• Familiarity using CADLink.• Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
Analytical and problem-solving skillsOrganizational and planning skillsFollowing directions, processes, and proceduresComputer skills - proficiency using standard business software (including MS Office)Written and verbal communications skillsInterpersonal skills - ability to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority and to maintain composure in pressure situations.• Understanding of tolerancing (Familiarity with GD&T is a plus)• Proficient with EPDM• Familiarity with ERP systems
