We operate a women's day center and several 24x7 family centers/shelters in King County. We serve hundreds of families-moms, dads, and children - providing a safe place for them to be inside and together at night, along with food, showers, clothing, and access to housing and employment resources. Position Description The Grant Writer is a key contributor to building our grant database and partnerships through seeking appropriate opportunities and successful application of foundation, corporate, and government grants. This role is primarily focused on supporting our current capital campaign around our Burien site and government proposals but will also support other grant applications as needed. Both previous capital campaign and federal grant experience is ideal. This is a full-time, exempt position with a compensation of $70 - 85K DOE. The Grant Writer reports to the Associate Grants Director within the Institutional Giving team and does not supervise other staff. The position is hybrid, based at our administrative offices in South Lake Union with the ability to work from home. Key Responsibilities•Develop strong cross-organizational relationships with key partners on the Programs, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure current and clear understanding of funding needs and executional capacity/capabilities•Research prospective private foundations, corporations, and government entities (City, County, State, and federal) to find and evaluate new and future grant opportunities•Provide guidance and expertise in the interpretation of and adherence to funder requirements and administrative guidelines, including federal compliance•Lead application process for all identified and/or assigned grant proposals, including preparation, documentation, submission, and management to decision•Contribute to an $18 million raise towards the overall $35 million campaign goal for the Burien Project, alongside the Individual Giving, Corporate, and leadership teams•Contribute towards Development's overall $21 million general fundraising goal by supporting a $10 million government/foundation portfolio.•Maintain shared Grants Calendar in order to track schedules and due dates for info sessions, proposals, applications, LOIs, etc.•Assist with leading internal cross-team kick-off meetings to ensure accurate and complete information transfer from pre-award application to post-award grants management•Provide stewardship and build strong relationships with grant donors as needed to support future renewal conversations•Interview and work closely with Programs, Operations, and Data teams to understand program and service updates, changes, impact metrics, and data, in order to write compelling narratives, proposals, and reports•Maintain current records in Raiser's Edge database including grant application prospecting, tracking, and stewardship•Assist with other Development projects as requestedRequirementsSkills/Qualifications•Bachelor's degree preferred•3-5 years of grant writing experience, with proven record of prospecting, writing, and receiving grants; previous capital campaign experience preferred•Experience with federal grants, including working knowledge of Uniform Guidance for Federal Awards•Excellent writing, editing, and research skills, with a strong attention to detail•Ability to meet deadlines•Understanding of private, local, state, and federal government grant sources, particularly in the area of homelessness•Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel•Grants management database experience preferred•Strong commitment to social justice and a passion for Mary's Place's mission•Exhibits compassion and empathy; works well with people from all ethnic, social, economic, and sexual orientation backgrounds•Successfully manages projects involving multiple stakeholders, participants, and deliverables•Able to build relationships and effectively communicate with internal partners across a variety of functions and levels•High level of personal accountability, reliability, and trustworthiness•Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with great attention to detail•Proven ability to multitask, set priorities, and meet deadlines•Ability to work successfully in a collaborative, team-oriented organization•Highly self-motivated, resourceful, flexible, and possesses a positive attitudePhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.•Ability to converse with and listen to people in many different settings•Ability to use a computer and telephone, as well as other standard office equipment•Frequently required to stand, walk, use fingers, hands, and arms•Ability to occasionally push, pull, lift, and/or carry supplies up to 25 pounds•Work takes place in a social services environment where long periods of sitting, working on a computer, walking to various work areas, going up and down stairs, and standing are required•Ability to travel to in-office meetings, program sites, and meetings outside the site and around the county•Ability to work in an environment where there may be animals present, including dogsDetailsMary's Place offers the following benefits to full-time staff:Medical and dental insurance with the cost for core employee coverage paid at 100% by the company and competitive family ratesBasic Life Insurance of $50,000 at no cost to employee; option to buy up for additional coverage403(b) plan with a 50% employer match on the first 6% employee contribution.
