Tesla is on a path to build humanoid robots at scale to automate repetitive and boring tasks. As a member of Tesla's Optimus Simulation team, you will be in a unique position to accelerate the pace at which the Optimus autonomy stack improves over time. Optimus simulation team is responsible for building core components to virtualize all aspects of Optimus which in turn are used for understanding, testing bot functionality and generating synthetic datasets for training deep neural nets.
As a Technical Artist on the Optimus Simulation Team, you will play a key role in accelerating scenario generation by creating highly realistic 3D virtual environments and assets for robotic interaction. You will also develop tools to streamline scene creation and editing. Collaborating with Software Engineers, Robotics experts, and fellow artists, you'll help build an advanced procedural generation pipeline to scale our testing and training efforts efficiently.
Responsibilities
Create realistic 3D navigation maps, manipulation environments and 3D assets to address various simulation testing and training needs
Work closely with the Optimus Simulation team to continuously improve and automate asset and environment creation workflows
Develop tools for various 3D scene creation, visualization and editing needs
Keep up with latest developments 3D environment creation technologies to continuously push towards improving our agility in responding to internal customer requirements
Requirements Portfolio and/or code examples demonstrating large-scale generation of procedural environments and domain randomization
Excellent knowledge of 3D creation tools such as Houdini, Blender, Maya, etc.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, familiarity/willingness to learn and work on C++
Flexibility and willingness to learn and quickly adapt to Simulation team needs
Understanding of high performance assets in relation to ray traced rendering and graphics pipelines
Solid analytical & spatial math skills related to Graphics and/or Robotics
Experience with Git, GitHub Automation, Linux and Docker
Understanding of vision-based ML and experience with NN training

Expected Compensation
$96,000 - $240,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
