Job Responsibilities

To support executing the College's communication and marketing strategies.

- Develop and Distribute Press Releases: Maintains and builds professional working relationships with key College employees to discover and elevate the reputation of the college at the college-wide level as well as department level. Write and distribute clear, error-free press releases that capture media interest, convey key messages succinctly, and reflect SCC's brand and voice. This includes attending key events, supporting news-related events on campus, building targeted media lists, and identifying key metrics/performance of SCC's brand in the news and community.

- Create and Manage Blog Content: Participates in brainstorming decisions and proactively researches and pitches ideas for news articles that support the brand awareness and engagement of the College's Strategic Plan. Craft engaging blog content that aligns with SCC's goals, targets the right audience, and promotes the institution's initiatives and achievements. Source images and other needed content in conjunction with the
Marketing Department.

- Produce Annual Reports and Foundation Materials: Develop comprehensive annual reports and foundation reporting materials that effectively communicate SCC's progress, impact, and future goals. Conducts interviews with faculty, staff, alumni, students, and others as needed.

- Generate Impactful Collateral and Content: Assist in developing and executing impactful communication strategies for various channels, including newsletters, mass emails, collateral, and the college's website that aligns with brand voice and messaging. Develop and oversee internal and external newsletters for the College, including (but not limited to) community initiatives, Chaser's Chatter, Dean's List distribution, Minute with Mikota, alumni relations, and workforce development. This also includes our "SCC Trailblazer" initiative, which highlights employees monthly. Content should be clear and error-free.

- Support the Office of the President: Provide ad-hoc writing support for the Office of the President, adapting to various communication needs, conducting high-quality research and interviews, and maintaining a high standard of quality and consistency.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

Bachelor's degree and professional experience related to the development and dissemination of informational material.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English communications, Journalism, or marketing; 3+ years of experience in content production, copywriting, or journalism; Proven success in producing copy for print and digital content channels; Experience in higher education.
