Overview

Emerald is seeking an experienced Sales Director for a large portion of our Media properties. This position will manage and oversee the sales team and is responsible for designing plans to meet sales targets, developing and cultivating relationships with clients. The sales director will work collaboratively with the Show Directors of associated shows, Editorial teams and the sales leadership team to develop sales strategies and objectives for a growing portfolio to deliver on sales goals with growth targets.

The Sales Director will be responsible for achieving annual sales goals through effective management of a sales team. The sales director is accountable for accurate forecasting across all brands he/she leads. The sales director will lead a team of sellers to close opportunities that create the right product fit for the client, encourage customer loyalty and build the brand.

You will also work collaboratively in a team setting with content development, marketing and operations professionals to drive portfolio growth, and position these brands as prominent names in the events publication space.

The best candidate for this role will have a track record of leading a sales team in a high-growth setting in a B2B setting is a plus. An understanding of marketing communication, automation and measurement tools is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage forecasting and CRM management including the team’s adherence to key documentation-based processes such as: number of weekly touchpoints, lead generation details, prospecting volume, and the evolution of key stages in the sales process
  • Partner with GVP Sales to establish and oversee budget related to sales activities to achieve revenue goals
    • Use knowledge of the industry, discrete client verticals, and competitive dynamics to generate new leads and refine our go-to-market strategies
    • Play a “closer” role in large bids as needed.
    • Partner with key cross-functional stakeholders to develop a monthly revenue forecast, accounting for the current stage of key accounts and the overall health of the sales pipeline
  • Partner with Marketing on processes that will support customer acquisition, help create market positioning, and drive more sales
  • Establish strong rapport with key cross-functional teams (e.g., Marketing, Sales Operations, Finance, Strategy), and ensure Sales strategies are incorporated into all customer-facing planning efforts.
  • Regularly collect customer feedback from sales conversations about potential product improvements and communicate findings to the Content Leadership Team

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated success leading a distributed B2B Media sales team covering diverse assets or brands
  • Deep understanding of the B2B media sector, and the various offerings of an integrated media campaign.
  • Impeccable communication skills, with the ability to articulate clear and concise value propositions and effectively influence both external prospects and internal stakeholders
  • Mastery of CRM tools and reporting, tracking and forecasting capabilities
  • Ability to travel to key events & customer meetings

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Target Compensation: $110-120K Annual Base Salary + Performance Bonus
