About the Role

The Public Relations Senior Manager is an integral member of Latham's Brand & Communications team, responsible for developing and implementing proactive and creative media strategies and campaigns to elevate the firm's profile and unmatched track record in Houston and more broadly in Texas. This role also focuses on promoting the expertise and resources of the firm's market-leading global Energy & Infrastructure (E&I) Industry Group, which comprises a multi-disciplinary powerhouse team in several core areas, including oil and gas, power and renewables, and infrastructure. With exceptional strength in practice areas such as capital markets, M&A, private equity, investment funds, private capital, banking and finance, and public company representation, among other transactional, regulatory, and disputes capabilities, Latham is well-positioned to leverage its extensive expertise to further enhance its market presence. Based in our Houston office, this role seeks a strategic senior Public Relations (PR) leader with strong media contacts, exceptional storytelling skills, and a deep understanding of the Texas market and E&I sector. This role will be located in our Houston office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Actively pursuing media opportunities to profile the firm and individual attorneys both in Texas and nationally, as well as elevating the global E&I practice, while expertly managing proactive press outreach and reactive media engagement.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with legal and business journalists, editors, and media outlets, in addition to connecting reporters to partners of the firm who serve as media sources.
  • Handling and taking the lead on a variety of strategic profile-raising initiatives that involve strong messaging, creativity, and dexterous writing skills, including media kits, talking points, statements, press releases, award submissions, survey responses, and other communication materials.
  • Placing byline articles, and as appropriate, creating opportunities to leverage thought leadership for press commentary.
  • Strategically leveraging sponsorships, conferences, partnerships, and other initiatives to enhance the firm's profile and demonstrate its expertise and track record in the media.
  • Contributing to leveraging the firm's social media programs to support promoting the expertise and work of the practice
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
We'd love to hear from you if you:
  • Possess knowledge of core public relations principles including media, digital, communications, branding, market research, and competitive intelligence
  • Demonstrate superior leadership skills (i.e., organizing, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making) necessary for effective management
  • Display excellent professional interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm
And have:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, or related field
  • A minimum of twelve (12) or more years relevant public relations experience (at PR agency or in-house), with a significant focus on press office and media relations responsibilities
  • Extensive prior work experience and in-depth familiarity with the legal industry, coupled with significant experience in the E&I sector.

Pay Range

USD $175,000.00 - USD $215,000.00 /Yr.
