Department: Office of the Publisher’s Agent, Mary Baker Eddy's Writings (OPA)
SUMMARY
Join a team of dedicated Christian Scientists by contributing substantially to all aspects of publishing Mary Baker Eddy’s writings: from concept to completion, in print and digital formats, in English and in over a dozen language translations. Play an active role in the metaphysical shepherding of these writings in their various distribution formats. Support and collaborate within and without the department to embrace the world-wide Christian Science movement by ensuring the Pastor is readily available in print and digital formats.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute all department’s marketing and communications outreach (50%)
- Collaborate with design department to create ads and other marketing materials
- Coordinate with other departments on ad postings and placement (online and in print magazines)
- Liaise with international bookseller to respond to their unique business needs; manage relationships and product postings
- Coordinate field communications related to new product rollouts
- As department point person for all Reading Room communications, write, coordinate, and track all messaging for bulletins and newsletters related to MBE’s writings
- Draft customer service responses and Board correspondence replies as needed; organize and track department documentation such as Board Action Memos (BAMs)
- Liaise with ecommerce specialist and Digital Product Manager to support online shop presence for English products
- Lead project coordination (30%)
- Provide administrative support for the department (20%)
- Assist Publisher’s Agent through administrative support
- Provide modest administrative support to the department (formatting letters, ordering office supplies, building slideshows as needed, booking travel, organizing physical stock, tracking requests, etc.)
- Support the department’s day-to-day financial activities including generating invoices and tracking communications with the Treasurer's Office
- Coordinate intern projects, as needed
- Coordinate various other projects for department on an as-needed basis

Reporting Relationships
Supervises: Interns, as needed
Regular Contacts: Contacts within every department of the Church and the Christian Science Publishing Society as well as with outside vendors, Church members, and volunteers.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience: College degree or equivalent experience in project management, communications, marketing, or similar preferred. Experience in the publishing, communications, or manufacturing industries a plus, as is any marketing and/or advertising experience.
Knowledge/Skills: Spiritual discernment, humility, professionalism. Incumbent should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively manage a diverse workload. Proven written and oral communication skills and good presentation skills required. Proactive, diplomatic problem-solver who takes initiative and has excellent organizational and follow-through skills. Must be flexible and gracious even in pressured or ambiguous situations. Ability to maintain confidences required.
Must be delighted at the opportunity to deeply study Mary Baker Eddy’s writings in conjunction with this work.
Individual must have strong word-processing skills (such as Google Suite). Must be extremely comfortable with learning new technologies. Agile (such as Scrum) and Trello experience preferred. Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat & InDesign, MemoQ and TEI a plus.
An individual in this position should be comfortable in a highly prayerful, fast-paced, and flexible atmosphere. This position will work in the Publishing House in Boston, MA; no travel is expected.
Engagement with Christian Science: Membership in The Mother Church required and Primary Class instruction preferred.
