Internal Communications Director

Acuity is seeking an Internal Communications Director to develop and implement internal communication strategies across all areas of Acuity. This role will drive employee engagement and alignment toward strategic goals by planning and executing cohesive internal communications. The Internal Communications Director will collaborate with a diverse set of business stakeholders including senior leadership, department leads, HR, IT, Culture and project teams. Acting as the lead for all internal communications, this position will partner with the broader Communications team to coordinate holistic communication plans across internal, agent and external audiences and manage the execution of all internal communications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Exemplify Acuity's Common Purpose through daily actions as a leader and role model and encourage consistent customer-focused behaviors within the department and across Acuity.
  • Create comprehensive internal communication plans and strategies to meet short-term and long-term needs for Acuity with a focus on driving employee engagement and enhancing the platforms and channels for effective delivery.
  • Facilitate or lead effective communication initiatives grounded by in-depth understanding of employee needs. Collaborate with teams on employee feedback to leverage insights for continuous improvement.
  • Consider new and innovative ways to bring creative ideas to life across internal communications such as email, intranet, video, and print.
  • Coordinate execution of communications with internal and external teams.
  • Monitor and report on performance metrics and business outcomes resulting from communication plans.
  • Foster the professional development of others, formally and informally, through mentoring; organize and present ongoing training opportunities that elevate the team.
  • Follow industry and technology trends to support Acuity's dynamic and ongoing strategies.
  • Maintain a consistent corporate image throughout all Acuity communications, platforms, and events.
  • Demonstrates deep understanding of the organization's values, culture and brand.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/deadlines.
  • Reasonably regular, predictable attendance.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in business/marketing or communications preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

5+ year's experience developing internal communication strategies and writing corporate communications. Proven ability to collaborate across all levels of an organization and successfully integrate priorities from individual teams within cohesive communications.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Develop and manage holistic internal communication plans including defining key messaging, audience targeting and channel optimization.
  • Champion the employee viewpoint, ensuring all campaigns are purpose-built to be contextual and intentional.
  • Understanding of marketing optimization by channel and employee role, and how to best build an internal brand.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional groups.
  • Eagerly embrace a wide variety of assignments with increasing complexity and responsibility.
  • Experience measuring, analyzing, and optimizing campaign and program performance against established business objectives.
  • Ability to adapt to change through utilization of new concepts and technologies.
  • Effectively organize and accomplish tasks.
  • Drive to learn new things and stay current on internal communication and marketing trends, technologies, and tools.
  • Proactively pursues professional development.
  • Routinely displays leadership qualities through positive influence and teamwork.
  • While the Internal Communications Director is able to work remotely, the individual must live within a commutable distance to our headquarters in Sheboygan, WI, and will be expected to come into the office at least once a month for in-person meetings and collaboration.

This job is classified as exempt.

The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $145,000 annually. This salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
