Role Overview:

The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications and Public Relationsis responsible for creating and executing Nexus' communication and PR strategies and plays a crucial role in driving Nexus brand image, industry leadership and growth strategy. Your key internal clients are entrepreneurial, motivated and dynamic, and busy building new facilities, managing strategic partnerships and accelerating the growth of the company. We're looking for a leader and team player who is eager to learn, has a passion for creating programs that drive positive changes and are ready to do whatever it takes to help drive the team's success.

This role involves developing and executing comprehensive internal and external communications plans, creating compelling, consistent messaging across Nexus channels, managing public relations and positioning with key industry and stakeholder groups, developing effective communication materials to promote the Nexus.

The ideal candidate has experience in developing and executing communications strategies and plans including PR campaigns and is equally proficient with day-to-day activities and long-term strategizing to meet the company's evolving needs.

This role reports to Nexus Circular's SVP, Corporate Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Advocacy: Develop and implement internal and external communication strategies to support Nexus Circular's public policy and advocacy initiatives, ensuring alignment with the company's mission and sustainability goals. Establish positioning customized to target audiences and develop communications plans with specific strategies and tactics to enhance the company's reputation and ensure industry leadership across different stakeholders and channels.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Identify targeted stakeholder audiences, build and maintain strategic relationships with key industry players, trade associations, media outlets and industry groups to elevate Nexus Circular's profile and drive advocacy efforts.
  • Public Affairs, Public Relations: Assist with the execution of local Atlanta/Georgia public affairs strategy to enhance the company's reputation, working with partner and community organizations and supporting related campaigns. Serve as primary and initial point of contact for external inquiries and work with and manage relationships with selected media outlets.
  • Content Creation: Develop high-impact, meaningful content and provide creative oversight of collateral including presentations, policy briefs, white papers, op-eds, promotional materials, videos, social media and website content to engage and educate stakeholders and advocate for circular solutions.
  • Event Strategy and Execution: Drive the strategy and execution of external positioning opportunities, speaking engagements and participation in industry events, conferences, and public forums for executive leadership, advocacy, commercial and feedstock to meet business objectives, deliver key messages and maintain consistent brand positioning.
  • Collaboration: Partner with the broader Cox Corporate Communications and Public Affairs teams offtake partners and industry associations, as applicable, to amplify impact; collaborate internally with leadership teams and other functions to rally our employees around our Purpose, inform them about our businesses, and engage them fully in our success.
  • Research: Sustainability and recycling market trends, providing impactful facts and insights that help tell the story behind our new businesses and how they connect to our core businesses and market trends.
  • Resource Management: Oversee external vendors, consultants, agencies, designers, printers and freelancers, and their associated budgets to ensure we use their services strategically and cost effectively.
  • Performance Metrics: Design key performance indicators to measure and track results, communicate progress toward goals and ensure accountability to project timelines, deliverables, budget and impact.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree obtained in business, communications, journalism or similar studies.
  • 10+ years of corporate communications experience, including public relations.


Additional Qualifications:
  • Extensive PR experience is a plus.
  • A collaborative, supportive leader and team player
  • Have an outstanding track record of managing projects on time and within budget, juggling multiple priorities and executing high-quality deliverables.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills required (samples may be requested).
  • Competency in MS Office (especially PowerPoint, Word and Excel).
