Job Description
The Polka Dot Paper Shop is a luxury wedding invitation & signage business with in-house printing services.
We are a family business located in North West Mississauga with nearly 2 decades of experience. We service hundreds of high-end luxury weddings and events all over the world and are seeking a talented and creative Graphic Designer to join our team! The appropriate candidate will understand the importance of the products that we create, have a passion for stylish stationery and be competent in a customer-facing role. The perfect candidate will have a sense of humour, be engaging with clients and have flawless written English language.
Responsibilities:
- Set up design files for our creative director in Adobe Illustrator.
- Create eye-catching designs that perfectly represent the client you are working for, as well as ensuring all products are in fashion and are on brand for the company.
- Work directly with clients to harness their loose design concepts and transform them into the perfect stationery for their event.
- Proof-read and write with high proficiency of the English language.
- Help with the creation of print approval contracts as well as invoicing.
- Speak with clients on the phone regarding their needs.
- Occasionally consult with clients about the design and creative direction of their invitation and event branding in-person.
- Greet customers & deliveries upon arrival and hand off completed projects when needed.
- Manage client accounts and timeliness of projects.
- Assist our in-house production team on occasional production jobs when needed.
- Confidentiality is key, as we often work with public figures and clients who require a non-disclosure to be signed.
Qualifications:
- MUST HAVE: a college certificate in graphic design or at least 5 years full-time graphic design experience.
- MUST HAVE: Full proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Moderate proficiency in Adobe Photoshop
- MUST HAVE: A solid graphic design portfolio that includes creative out-of-the-box thinking and designs.
- MUST HAVE: Candidate must be deadline and detail-oriented. We must be able to provide client deliverables on time, or in advance of when they are required due to the fast-paced nature of our industry.
- MUST HAVE: Fluent written and spoken English skills with a high proficiency in grammar, spelling and punctuation. It is important that you understand the difference between Canadian & American English as well as proper formal English written word.
- Bonus: Stationery design experience is a solid bonus (wedding and event invitations, signage, menus, seating charts, etc).
- Bonus: A background in visual arts or an ability to paint / draw on a professional level.
- Bonus: Wedding experience is a bonus, but not a must.
- Bonus: Print Experience is a bonus, but not a must.
Schedule:
- This role is an in-person position. Please do not apply for this role if you are unable to work in-person, or if you are unable to legally work in Canada already.
- Employment is salaried and 40 hours per week.
- We will request occasional overtime work with additional compensation during busy season (April - September) and may occasionally require assistance with on-site event setup and/or tear down.
- Due to the seasonal nature of our work, we request that any vacation time of more than 2 consecutive days be taken in slow season (October-March)
