About the Role
Brian Communications is seeking a talented and experienced Art Director to join our creative team. As an Art Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading and inspiring a team of designers, working collaboratively with cross-functional departments, and driving the creative vision for diverse projects. The ideal candidate is not only an exceptional designer but also a natural leader and mentor, capable of balancing creativity with strategic thinking to meet business objectives.
This position will support and report to the Creative Director while mentoring a Senior Designer and other team members. You will have the opportunity to shape the creative output across various media, ranging from branding and digital design to campaigns and high-profile client projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the creative vision, lead brainstorming sessions, and conceptualize bold, strategically aligned ideas that resonate with target audiences.
- Oversee the creative process from concept to execution, ensuring exceptional quality, innovation, and adherence to timelines.
- Actively participate in collaboration and pitch concepts to the team (and clients), helping bring big ideas to life.
- Incorporate feedback to refine creative solutions and achieve objectives.
- Stay current with design trends, tools, and advancements in technology to elevate creative outputs.
- Mentor team members, fostering a collaborative, supportive work environment that encourages growth and innovation.
- Provide clear, actionable feedback to elevate creative work and develop individual skills.
- Develop and manage relationships with freelancers, production partners, vendors, and other external resources.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, effectively communicating creative ideas and strategies.
- Lead client presentations and advocate for the creative vision.
- Collaborate with Integrated, PR, and account teams to develop outstanding creative materials.
- Work hand-in-hand with the Creative Director and internal departments to deliver high-quality communication and marketing materials.
- Uphold and evolve brand standards, ensuring consistency across all creative outputs.
- Create compelling concepts/designs for internal and external audiences.
- Help build, maintain, and elevate the Brian Communications brand and related asset library.
- Own multiple projects simultaneously, managing competing deadlines effectively.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support team success.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Skills
- 5+ years of relevant experience in an agency or design-focused role.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and proficiency in design tools such as Figma or Sketch.
- Strong conceptual ability with a proven track record of innovative, high-concept ideas across multiple media.
- Exceptional typography, layout, and prototyping skills.
- Strong client presentation and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders, meet deadlines, and maintain accountability for project outcomes
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines, including work for C-suite executives.
- Open to critique and growth, with a motivated and decisive mindset.
- Ability to confidently sell creative design concepts to all levels of management.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with HubSpot.
- On-set (photo/video) experience.
- Knowledge of website design, UX principles, and multimedia production.
- Familiarity with project management tools (Workfront, Basecamp, or similar).
- Additional experience in WordPress, Webflow, UX/UI, animation, photography, or video is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience across web, digital, branding, social, print, out-of-home, and video.
