Extera Public Schools are tuition-free, public K-8 charter schools serving the communities of Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles. Founded in 2011, Extera operates two schools on four campuses that are co-located with LAUSD schools. Extera Public Schools currently serves approximately 900 inner-city, primarily Latino students who historically have had limited access to high quality public education options within their local neighborhood. More than 90% of Extera's students come from low-income households and are eligible for Title I services, and nearly 50% are classified as English learners.

Extera Public Schools personalize the instructional program to meet the needs of every child with a small school environment focused on the unique academic and social needs of each student. The school calendar offers 183 days of instruction, which exceeds state requirements and provides increased access to the school's core instructional program.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Extera Art or Music Teacher is responsible for providing a high quality, personalized education program for students. This position will serve as a full time teacher on a 10 month calendar. This person must be collaborative, organized, and have a commitment to equity and inclusion. This person is a critical member of the school community as they directly impact the experience of students on a daily basis.
