Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Specifications Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing Division 00, 01 and Architectural specifications and coordinating project specifications for other disciplines, ensuring they align with design documents and comply with industry standards. Experience with the SpecLink Cloud system is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, write, and maintain project specifications for architectural drawings and design documents.
  • Review and interpret architectural drawings to ensure specifications accurately reflect design intent and comply with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with project architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate specifications seamlessly into project documentation.
  • Utilize SpecLink Cloud to create and manage specification documents.
  • Stay updated on industry standards, building codes, and material specifications to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of specifications.
  • Assist in the selection of materials, finishes, and products that meet project requirements and sustainability goals.
  • Review and edit specifications prepared by others to ensure consistency and compliance with project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and manufacturers to stay informed about new products and technologies.
  • Provide technical support during the construction phase, including reviewing submittals and addressing contractor inquiries related to specifications.

Required Skills:

  • Established experience as a Specifications Writer in an architectural or engineering firm.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, materials, and building codes.
  • Ability to produce well-coordinated, detail-oriented, and fully integrated specifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Licensed Architect preferred.
  • Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) certification preferred.
  • Experience using SpecLink Cloud for specification development and management preferred.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design practices and LEED certification processes is a plus.
  • Experience with Revit strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
