Summary

Summary: Under general supervision of the Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) Director of Marketing & Communications, or designee, the Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for strategy development, planning, coordinating, and implementation of marketing activities for the Frisco CVB to grow the economic impact of the tourism industry in the City of Frisco. This position will work collaboratively with the Director of Marketing & Communications, as well as the marketing and communications team, other CVB departments, and agencies to enhance the CVB's brand awareness and equity.

The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbent(s) in this position. Essential Job Functions & Other Important Duties

Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist the Director of Marketing & Communications and agencies in developing and implementing a marketing plan and tactics that create awareness of Frisco as a top destination for leisure travelers, meetings, conventions, and sports groups.
  • Collaborate with Director and agencies to develop marketing strategies, media plans, and advertising purchases to enhance the CVB's brand awareness and equity.
  • Collaborate with Director and agencies to ensure all advertising recommendations and media buying strategies align with target audiences and goals.
  • Oversee and approve creative materials including but not limited to annual visitor guide, bid books, advertising, digital graphics, videos, and collateral.
  • Manage and collaborate with Creative Marketing Manager and other agencies to ensure seamless alignment of all creative outputs.
  • Supervise, hire, terminate, train, develop, counsel, evaluate, and disciplines assigned staff.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations of assigned staff.
  • Collaborate with Director to create annual budget and operate within budget parameters.
  • Lead agency meetings, ensuring clear communication, alignment of goals, and effective collaboration.
  • Monitor and analyze marketing and media programs and adjust strategy/tactics to increase effectiveness.
  • In collaboration with Director, agencies, and internal CVB teams, plan and implement marketing and promotional activities and events.
  • Oversee and manage vendor contracts, ensuring compliance, performance, and the successful execution of terms and agreements.
  • Partner with Director to develop and publish annual sales and marketing report and other special reports.
  • Leverage market research and data analytics to make recommendations and to measure success as well as use data and research tools to mine actionable insights.
  • Provide monthly reporting on marketing activities and key performance indicators.
  • Monitor trends in marketing as it relates to travel and tourism.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with entire CVB team, vendors, and partners.
  • Manage assigned projects and work for team and agencies.
Other Important Duties:
  • Attend and represent the CVB at certain events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Attend city events, on occasion on evenings and weekends.
  • Travel to attend meetings, conferences, and trainings.
  • May be required to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends.
  • Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge and experience of working with advertising agencies.
  • Knowledge of digital and print media production, delivery, theories, technologies, principles, concepts, methodologies platforms, and applications.
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques of developing and implementing marketing and media activities.
  • Knowledge of operations, services, and activities of a convention & visitors bureau.
  • Proficient in effective oral and written communications.
  • Proficient in the ability to translate business needs into creative media and marketing solutions.
  • Proven and substantive track record in formulating and driving marketing communications through digital engines targeting multiple audiences, as well as successful digital media campaigns that result in tangible results.
  • Skills in still photography; general knowledge of video production helpful to assist as producers on city and/or contract video productions.
  • Skills use of computers and related equipment, hardware and software applicable to area of assignment.
  • Skills in appropriate handling of politically sensitive and confidential information.
  • Skills in organizing, prioritizing, tracking and managing multiple assignments and tasks.
  • Ability to use creative judgment to control the quality of work produced by agencies.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and evaluate new trends in technology.
  • Ability to analyze problems, consequences, identify solutions, and implement recommendations to support of goals.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and stressful situations.

Education, Experience, and Certifications/Licenses:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field and three to five (3-5) years related experience in travel and tourism or similar agency, or equivalent combination of education and experience that support the ability to perform the essential functions and/or skills of the job.
  • Travel and tourism experience preferred.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and MVR check.
  • Must possess a valid State of Texas Driver's License.

  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment; however, offsite events include grand openings and groundbreakings which may be subject to weather.
