Editing breaking news coverage will be a recurring part of this role, as will coordinating handoffs of that coverage to other editors entering the upcoming week. Contribute as necessary to the curation of our digital platforms and social media accounts, coordinating with programming editors to supplement or adjust digital and social content plans that have already been scheduled. Occasionally write and/or update quick-turn and breaking news stories as needed. Who We're Looking For:

Seven-plus years working in digital media, with experience line editing and shaping stories. Confidence to call the shots and run the news with a small team, or solo when necessary, while also demonstrating strong judgement on when to bring in other senior editors and newsroom personnel for support. Comfort editing and evaluating stories on multiple subjects and beats. This editor will need to be able to help identify and understand the value of stories beyond just breaking news or major events. A curiosity for how people consume information as technology and trends continue to evolve. Someone eager to contribute to building systems and initiatives that encourage people to form a habit of engaging with our journalism.
