Mechanical Designer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer with expertise in 3D modeling, particularly using SolidWorks. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a solid understanding of sheet metal design, and knowledge of engineering drawing guidelines and standards. This role requires excellent time management abilities and familiarity with electro-mechanical switchgear. Responsibilities Operate independently on medium-scale assigned projects. Fully model and create parts and assemblies in SolidWorks for various projects. Create and revise fully detailed engineering prints. Provide technical direction for prototype builds and initial builds as required. Create Bills of Materials (BOMs) for fabrication. Create and release projects through the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process. Conform to drafting and department standards and processes. Lead designers as appropriate on jobs and projects. Essential Skills Experience operating a 3D design tool with a preference for SolidWorks. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of sheet metal design. Understanding of engineering drawing guidelines and standards. Excellent time management skills. Knowledge of electro-mechanical switchgear. Additional Skills & Qualifications Mechanical aptitude. Experience in mechanical design. Ability to operate independently on assigned projects. Work Environment The work environment involves using advanced design technologies, including SolidWorks, to create and manage engineering projects. The position requires adherence to drafting and department standards, with opportunities to lead and provide technical direction. The candidate will be working on medium-scale projects and will need to manage time effectively to meet project deadlines. The role may involve collaboration with other designers and engineers.
