Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Content and Media Specialist, MiPD - Department of Emergency Medicine C - at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Senior Director of the Michigan Poison & Drug Information Center (MiPDC), the Content and Media Specialist, MiPDC creates and disseminates educational content developed by the poison center educator and toxicology consultants using innovative methods, markets the MiPDC, promotes and increases awareness of the services of the MiPDC through use of social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, TikTok, etc., as well as using traditional media in the form of billboards, radio, and TV to build the MiPDC brand in concert with WSU. This role is responsible for informing, educating, and empowering the population served in poison prevention and to reduce poisoning risks. Supports the Administrative and Clinical Directors of the MiPDC by establishing and implementing marketing, public relations and advocacy initiatives and attaining center goals.
Essential Functions:
Develop, execute, and manage a robust social media relation's presence. Identify the most effective social media outlets to promote the poison center and educate audiences on poison prevention and toxicology.
Create and maintain the poison center's website. Identify and publish educational information and events. Prepare relevant reports, analyses, and summaries on center's public social media activities.
Partner with marketing department to create various promotional and educational materials. Ensure brand is represented consistently across all marketing mediums.
Direct and produce interactive multi-media products and videos to be seen on a variety of media, including broadcast television, internet, live presentations, and html email blasts. Operate audio/video/photo equipment.
Develop an overall content plan based on strategic vision and key messages of the MiPDC.
Develop, oversee, and comply with departmental operating budget related to social media outreach. Make sure to advance the image of the MiPDC to the greatest extent with a limited budget to ensure the effective and appropriate use of allocated resources.
Maintain a knowledge base of new and emerging technology and develop strategies for implementation of new technology within organization. Research, develop and share new technologies, skills and creative processes with staff, volunteers, and community producers.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Unique duties:
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree
Bachelor's degree in from an accredited university in public relations, marketing, graphic design, communication, educational media, instructional technology, or related discipline. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience: Intermediate (3 to 4 years job-related experience)
Experience in branding, promotions, and advertising with special emphasis in knowledge of social media, video planning and production. Must have creative background and credentials, with ability to take ideas from concept to completion within broader strategic vision.
Experience with budget management and oversight.
A strong understanding of the creative process, video production, media content opportunities. Demonstrated proficiency with advanced functions within MS Office suite of software. Proficient with major social media platforms and applications.

Ability to plan and set strategic and operational direction. Ability to foster collaboration across diverse constituencies in a large academic institution, inspire confidence and motivate groups to collectively meet common objectives. Ability to grasp new ideas.
