Job Summary:

***This is a hybrid position that must report to Fairfax, VA on Mondays and Thursdays***

Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, the Marketing Data and Research Analyst is responsible for driving the research, tracking and measurement of Marketing, Member Experience and Research projects and organizational goals. The Marketing Data and Research Analyst will incorporate research methodologies, data analysis techniques and project management to validate credit union Marketing functions, with a primary focus on planning, research, return on investment and analysis of Marketing and member experience activities. This position will drive the Marketing Customer Information File (MCIF) system and utilize the core processor operating systems as the primary tools for conducting analysis, target segmenting and reporting. This includes serving as a subject matter expert on Apple FCU data, demographics files, vendor relationships and tracking industry trends, as applied to needs of the Executive Leadership Team, serving as a Marketing data strategy advisor. This role will contribute to the development of analysis, reports, research and tools for the compilation, analysis and presentation of Marketing data. This role will also perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with The Apple Way principles of Team Up, Serve with Purpose, Challenge Yourself and Own It. Remain cognizant of and adhere to credit union policies and procedures and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Drive MCIF Activity. Demonstrate technical knowledge to operate, update and maintain the MCIF database for reporting and tracking to support Marketing initiatives. Provide timely and accurate segmented member demographic, psychographic and behavioral data for promotional mailings, research and analysis. Serve as the contact to interpret data sets, trends, insights and issues between the MCIF, core system and software engineering support teams. Pull Marketing demographic segmentation, psychographic and behavioral targets for promotional mailings, and qualitative and quantitative marketing research and analysis. Work with Marketing team and department managers to analyze Member insights, purchasing data, preferences and behaviors, and respond to targeted segment requests. Collect and utilize Data from various sources (market research reports, surveys, industry publications) to mine membership data and demographics. Monitor the delivery of mail files and monthly reports for Marketing activities. Track promotions and public relations activities, product penetration and growth. Work to develop Marketing automation opportunities that advance member engagement and retention.
  • Serve as an Analyst of Industry Products and Trends. Research, monitor and report on financial, technological and demographic trends to capitalize on market opportunities and analysis of new-to-market trends, products and services. Collaborate with teams, guiding data analysis of segmented requests. Serve as a point of contact for vendor relationships, developing platform reports that target the credit union's needs across multiple departments/business lines. Collect and tabulate data and surveys, and conduct qualitative and quantitative Marketing research and analysis. Research and present community data and demographics to aid in developing current and new initiatives, future branch strategies, products, services and vendors. Contribute to market research, defining market trends, member behavior and understanding competitive landscapes across the organization, to identify opportunities for products, services, pricing and strategies. Promote data analysis, patterns and insights via software tools/market research. Use data analysis to identify trends, patterns, insights via software tools/market research. Document research data, findings, analysis and impacts to business goals.
  • Develop and Promote Cross-departmental Data Collaboration. Track and understand the credit union's enterprise systems and vendors, promoting a unified vision for data models and the storage, use and analysis of data across multiple enterprise systems. Serve as a Marketing data expert and liaison with IT and other departments to drive the strategic vision related to the credit union's core systems, customer relationship and MCIF databases. Utilize data from various internal sources to data mine and analyze current membership resources (i.e., MCIF, Performance Analytics, Core, CRM), and research potential external sources. Contribute to competitive Analysis reports to provide competitive landscape, market and opportunities insights. Review approaches and case studies to changing market conditions and business goals. Leverage journey mapping efficiencies and orchestration, to share findings across the enterprise.
  • Support and Administer Process Improvements. Work with teams to streamline internal processes by evaluating workflows and identifying friction points. Communicate feedback and recommendations to branch and back-office teams, as needed to enhance MX operations. Develop and analyze member journey projects to improve member experience. Aid in evaluation of Member feedback to create Member journey maps and make relevant recommendations that improve internal processes and procedures.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience:

Minimum 8-10 years relevant Member Analysis and Marketing experience, preferably in Financial Services. Applicant must demonstrate experience in understanding research methodologies, data analysis techniques and project management. Applicant must be experienced in communicating with teams, to present and drive strategic analysis. Applicant must be experienced in loading data, sorting/extracting information from database systems, working with vendor contacts to troubleshoot issues and creating and modifying spreadsheets and have experience using formulas and data tools to streamline report writing and analysis. Also required is experience in promoting member feedback and engagement. Applicant must have experience with reporting platforms (i.e., MCIF), SQL programming and Data Warehouse experience, with PC proficiency (i.e., MS Office Suite).

Education:

BA/BS in mathematics or statistics or BA/BS in business or finance or BA/BS in marketing, each with significant course work in marketing, analytics and statistics or related a field. A solid foundation of MCIF experience and data analysis is required. At least 8 years of relevant of member service experience, preferably in financial services.

Interpersonal Skills:

Work involves personal interaction with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a high degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact.

Other Skills:

Applicant must be able to define problems, outline facts, draw valid conclusions and identify cause and effect relationships to evaluate risks versus potential return. Applicant must demonstrate ability to navigate and promote analytic platforms and possess analytic skills, report writing and presentation development, with experience presenting data visually and writing/promoting market insights succinctly. Applicant must be skilled at developing, interpreting, analyzing and presenting financial reports, statistical analysis, government regulations, spreadsheets, worksheets and research. Applicant must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office including extensive Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint presentation skills. Knowledge of SQL programming is a plus. The ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously is essential. Additional strengths include an innovative, creative, energetic personality with interpersonal communication skills, as well as excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to work independently, with personal initiative.

Physical Requirements:

The ability to lift 25 lbs. and utilize standard office equipment including, but not limited to, PC, copier, telephone, etc.

Work Environment:

Extensive email and e-meeting contact. Ability to function in a hybrid, financial institution environment. Local travel to events or branches may be required.
