Primary Responsibilities:
Minimum 1+ years Behavior Specialist experience required.
Job Opportunity: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Location:near Newport News, VA
Position Type: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Start Date: ASAP
Work Hours: 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Caseload Size: 10-15 students
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support 5 classrooms: Collaborate with teachers and paraprofessionals to enhance classroom management and student outcomes.
- Staff Training: Train and guide teachers and paraprofessionals in ABA strategies to reduce negative behaviors and increase positive behaviors through data analysis.
- Behavioral Support: Provide real-time, hands-on support to staff, including modeling and coaching on:
- Positive reinforcement techniques
- De-escalation strategies
- Maintaining a safe and orderly classroom environment
- Follow-up Support: After modeling strategies, send follow-up emails with tips and methods to maintain classroom practices.
- Classroom Support: Step in as a classroom support person when staff are absent or during staffing shortages to ensure continuity and consistency.
- Professional Development (PD): Lead training sessions on PD days for staff on various topics including data collection, behavior management, and the use of visuals in the classroom. Qualifications:
- BCBA certification (required)
- Experience working with students with autism or other developmental disabilities preferred
- Strong understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and behavior management strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to provide real-time modeling and training to staff
