Purpose
University Marketing and Communications (UMAC) at the University of Texas at Austin is looking for a social media coordinator who will help our team share the ideas, perspectives, and talents of our students, faculty, and staff with people around the globe through the highly visible social media channels that represent the University.

Purpose
University Marketing and Communications (UMAC) at the University of Texas at Austin is looking for a social media coordinator who will help our team share the ideas, perspectives, and talents of our students, faculty, and staff with people around the globe through the highly visible social media channels that represent the University.
Responsibilities
- Content Creation and Distribution: Develops, creates, and curates original content for the official social media channels of the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost. Produces unique and engaging written, visual, multimedia posts and stories for multiple platforms. Posts scheduled content on a daily basis and ensures it is error free and on time.
- Audience Engagement: Interacts with social media audiences and responds to social media messages, inquiries, and comments as directed. Attends campus events and produces live social media content as assigned. Identifies and recommends to social media team members relevant content to share with followers. Stays up to date with the latest social media trends and emerging platforms.
- Social Listening and Emergency Communications: Monitors social media to create reports summarizing and quantifying media coverage, community discussion and sentiment on key issues. Works with department and campus colleagues to share critical messages during emergencies.
- Collaboration: Pitches content and audience engagement ideas at the department's regular editorial meetings. Collaborates frequently with creative and content team members to develop visual and multimedia assets for social media marketing campaigns. Builds relationships with social media staff across campus to promote cross-collaboration on university-wide campaigns.
- Metrics: Tracks performance of assigned campaigns or channels. Generates analytics reports and provides recommendations to improve visibility and reach.
- Other related functions as as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism or related field.
- 2 years year professional experience or equivalent internship experience in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism or related field.
- 2 years professional experience or equivalent internship experience in supporting social media for a brand or publication through content creation and strategy.
- Excellent grammar and spelling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting paid and organic social media campaigns for a brand or publication.
- Experience with Adobe software for content creation.
- Ability to produce written, video and photo content for social media.
- Experience using a content calendar and following a publishing schedule.
$60,000 + depending on qualifications
