Title: Service Writer (Internal Service Shop)

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Hourly

Reports to: Service Manager

Purpose: This position's main function is act as the liaison between a business and its customers, and by third party Vendors by educating the customer on necessary repairs, and by performing cost estimates for transactions.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Resolve repairs for customers by communication with the Service Technician, Shop Forman, Parts Department and most importantly the Customer.
  • Quickly respond to customers either in person or via phone, to ensure that customers receive prompt, courteous, and effective assistance.
  • Maintaining and controlling work orders to ensure flow of assigned jobs.
  • Perform all daily functions to ensure customer needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assign jobs to the proper technician based upon the Technician's capabilities and training to ensure that highest quality of work is delivered.
  • Properly handling incoming calls to meet caller's expectations in a professional and timely manner.
  • Properly write and complete work orders.
  • Communicate customer needs with Service Technicians and Shop Foreman.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility: None

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required ( unless otherwise noted):
  • Graduation from High School or GED, required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with good standing MVR
  • 2 year of previously related experience in a service writer role, preferred
  • Strong computer skills and internet including Microsoft office and Excel
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Highly effective management of internal processes.
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects while maintaining focus on details required for individual assignments.
  • Strong interpersonal/internal customer service skills. Including acting in a professional, appropriate manner at all times, especially when dealing with customers.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work, rapidly adapt to changing environment and possess strong work ethics.
