LIBRARY CLERK (PART-TIME)
REPORTS TO: CIRCULATION MANAGER
FLSA STATUS:NON-EXEMPT
PLEASE READ FIRST:
- This is a part time, in-person position, working an average of 20 hours/per week.
- Paid time off is provided. Health benefits are not provided with this position.

NATURE OF WORK:
We are looking for friendly, helpful individuals who enjoy working with the public and as part of a team, and will help us carry out our mission to provide for all patrons an inclusive welcoming environment of intellectual enrichment, creativity and enjoyment, and a forum to exchange ideas by providing top-tier programs, materials, services, and community support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Welcome all patrons and assist patrons in using the library and its resources.
- Provide excellent customer service at the circulation desk and work associated with fulfilling patron needs, including check-ins, check-outs, and handling reserved materials through contact-free pickup.
- Check overdue materials and help with processing daily deliveries of materials.
- Perform advanced processing of books and other materials for cataloging and circulation as assigned.
- Provide complex office support activities, including word processing, data entry, handling over-due accounts, invoice checking as assigned.
- Assist with library programs, displays, outreach events, and fundraising activities as assigned.
- Assist with technology help/ troubleshooting for staff and patrons as assigned.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Evening and weekend availability required.
- Front line customer service experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a library or volunteering in a library preferred.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee: may be frequently required to move and/or lift materials up to 25 pounds and push a loaded book truck weighing up to 300 pounds; regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, reach, climb, balance, and sit; operate a keyboard at efficient speed and typical office equipment, including computer hardware; regularly required to talk and/or hear; use hands to operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Vision and hearing at or correctable to "normal ranges. Occasionally required to attend off-site meetings. Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
