About the Role The Communications Manager plays a pivotal role in advancing Friends of the Children-SF Bay Area’s mission by leading and implementing strategic communications initiatives for the Development and Communications team. Reporting to the Associate Director of Development and Communications, this position focuses on enhancing visibility, engagement, and fundraising success. The ideal candidate is a dynamic professional with a passion for storytelling, strategy, and project management in a mission-driven organization. Your Key Responsibilities: Strategic Communications Develop and implement robust communications plans to support fundraising, awareness, and community engagement initiatives. Oversee the annual communications calendar, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Uphold Friends-SF’s brand integrity by ensuring consistency across all materials. Content Creation & Storytelling Craft compelling narratives for newsletters, social media, email campaigns, and donor outreach. Manage the production of key materials such as donor acknowledgment letters, press releases, and presentation decks. Partner with program staff to spotlight impactful stories and achievements. Social Media & Digital Presence Drive social media strategy and execution, including content creation and audience engagement. Monitor and analyze digital metrics, leveraging insights to optimize performance. Stay ahead of trends to keep our digital presence fresh and relevant. Event Communications Lead the communications efforts for donor and community events, from promotional materials to on-the-ground storytelling. Collaborate with the team to ensure seamless integration of visuals, messaging, and timelines. Team Collaboration & Leadership Serve as a collaborative member of the Development and Communications team. Manage external vendors and coordinate with graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and other professionals to produce high-quality materials. Qualifications: Must-Have Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with strong follow-through. Highly professional, reliable, and organized, even under pressure. A collaborative and joyful approach to teamwork, with a good sense of humor. Absolute discretion and trustworthiness with sensitive information. Experience & Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of professional experience in fundraising and communications, preferably in a nonprofit setting. Proficiency with tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and CRM/email platforms. Familiarity with social media management and analytics. Preferred: Experience in fundraising campaigns and donor engagement. Passion for youth development and social justice. Compensation & Benefits: Salary: $74,000 - $83,000, commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
