IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Structural Design Technician in our Dallas, TX office. As a Structural Design Technician you will work closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants to provide structural design solutions and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities will include assisting in analysis, design, and implementation oversight of structural systems in buildings and other structures. This position will be expected to work within the project's monetary budget as well as collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and analysis of structural, systems using a variety of building materials, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards;
  • Assist with documenting design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress;
  • Analyze lower complexity design tasks and propose innovative solutions; Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions;
  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements;
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in structural engineering; Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG;
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of design work;
  • Conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner;
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.

Key skills and abilities needed for the position are:

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications;
  • Knowledge of industry standard engineering software and tools including structural design and analysis software;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges;
  • Knowledge in the use of BIM software;
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups;
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Education and experience requirements are:

  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM), or Engineering preferred;
  • Prior experience in the building design consulting or construction industry preferred;
  • Revit experience preferred.
