This position will participate in various shift rotations for monitoring of the ARMER radio system at the Radio Operations Center (ROC). To track and identify system faults, alarms, and anomalies using various software applications and computer terminals for repair and maintenance oversite to the 800Mhz public safety ARMER radio system. To develop implementation plans/processes for updates and maintenance of existing systems and expansion of new integrated systems. This position also provides technical expertise in testing and evaluation services to State of Minnesota agencies, statewide area ARMER system partner agencies and other contracted agencies. Shift work/weekend work shall apply. This position will be located out of the Metro Roseville office. The person will start working the day shift until he/she is trained in. Once trained in, the position will start the 24/7 operation shift work/weekend work/rotating. We work a six-week rotation with four weeks of days followed by two weeks of nights. Shift differential applies for night work. Minimum Qualifications NOTE: To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. FCC Radio Telephone License or be an APCO/NABER certified technician is required or obtained within six (6) months of the hire date. AND Valid Class “D” driver’s license. AND Two or more years of recent advanced technical working experience (within the last four years) supporting a regional or large scale radio communications system with responsibility for installation, repair, and implementation of a variety of radio communications equipment. Knowledge of radio communication procedures and ability to operate communication equipment and peripheral equipment. (i.e., telephone, two-way radio, and computer). Knowledge and application of record keeping requirements and ability to keep records and complete reports. AND Advanced knowledge of microprocessor, digital, analog, and electromechanical technology. Advanced skills in troubleshooting techniques, soldering, and handling sensitive electronic equipment and parts as well as a mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity is required. Advanced knowledge of local and wide area radio communication networks to include switches, routers, and servers. Knowledge of computers and computer peripheral equipment Knowledge of software development process. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge and experience with the Minnesota ARMER land mobile radio communication system including experience with digital trunked two-way radio communication technology including RF base station, RF transmission lines, antennas, amplifiers, combiners, and multicouplers. Knowledge and experience with microwave communication technology. Experience with wide area network backhaul equipment such as routers, switches, and other transport technology. Experience with mobile and portable subscriber radio programming and code plug development. Skills in troubleshooting techniques and handling sensitive electronic equipment and parts as well as a mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity. Knowledge of software development process including programming and scripting.
