Position Overview

This is a highly independent role. You will be expected to apply your skills and knowledge to resolve technical challenges and make informed recommendations. You will also assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the lab while occasionally performing administrative duties.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) across various disciplines to ensure compliance with stringent specifications.
- Work with diverse RF-enabled devices, including cell phone antennas, amplifiers, and two-way radios.
- Troubleshoot RF transmission circuits both independently and collaboratively with site engineers.
- Identify and repair faults in assemblies, making necessary adjustments.
- Collaborate with teams to implement preventive measures against fault occurrences.
- Engage in model creation, assembly, tuning, and modification of antenna prototypes.
- Document test cases meticulously.
- Conduct routine antenna capability tests to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain primary and secondary calibration standards.
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of precision equipment.
- Develop detailed calibration procedures in line with technical requirements.
- Collect and analyze data during calibration processes.
- Monitor IM&TE out-of-tolerance conditions and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare calibration reports and certificates of compliance.
- Adapt existing calibration equipment for unique measurement tasks.
- Perform uncertainty evaluations and measurement analysis.
- Train junior staff on calibration processes and best practices.
- Engage professionally with other technicians, customer service representatives, and clients.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Ability to perform general math and algebra functions is essential.
- Familiarity with basic statistics is beneficial.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are crucial.
- Proficiency in technical writing is preferred.
- Intermediate troubleshooting skills for precision equipment are necessary.
- Understanding of computer applications with proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- A minimum of three years of calibration experience is required, with a portion of this being offset by formal metrology training.
- Knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and ANSI Z540.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are a must.
- Attention to detail is critical.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and adept at following structured procedures.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds unassisted.
- Occasional standing and bending may be required.
Working Environment
This role will primarily be conducted in a laboratory or manufacturing setting at a SIMCO location. Some travel may be necessary to domestic and potentially international sites.
