Assistant Designer - Intimate Apparel/Bras

Dana-co, a leading design company of luxury intimate apparel, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Designer to support our design team in all aspects of the design process. This role is in-office, 4 days onsite in New York City with an option to work remotely for 1 day. The ideal candidate will have experience in intimate apparel/bras, a strong awareness of current fashion trends, retail brands, and the design process. This position will involve assisting with product development, presentations, fittings, and communication with both internal and external teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design with a concentration in lingerie design, with a focus on bras. Knowledge of garment construction, fabrics qualities, and production processes to design production feasible products. Strong portfolio showcasing elevated taste level and a range of bra designs from concept to production. Organized, systematic, and structured working style, with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel Working/General knowledge of Lectra for checking patterns, printing patterns and implementing corrections to SMS sizes. (Grade team can support as necessary) Understanding of industry trends, materials, and manufacturing processes. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities:
Trend Awareness & Retail Knowledge:
Stay informed on current fashion trends and key retail stores carrying our brands. Assist the design team in developing boards and presentations for meetings.
Market Preparation:
Ensure racks for market have proper tags and check for component or fit issues. Meet all calendar due dates for presentations and deliverables.
Cross-Functional Support:
Assist in updating essential documents like Fit Notes, Fit Photo Pages, Style Summary Sheets, and Features & Benefits pages.
Proto Style Requests & Technical Support:
Create proto style requests for new styles and set up specs (including sketches, construction details, BOM, measurements, etc.). Assist in the development and follow-up of product communication with factories, ensuring timely updates.
Sample Management & Fittings:
Track all incoming proto sample emails and ensure proper addition to the fit list. Coordinate model fittings, including scheduling and communicating with relevant parties. Maintain the active model chart and liaise with model agencies.
Proto Review & Documentation:
Tag garments upon receipt and verify that all requested items are received and meet sewing and construction standards. Measure garments as needed and follow up with the team to share updated proto photos. Assist in pattern setup and printing on Lectra for fittings.
Fitting Assistance:
Attend model fittings, take detailed photos and precise notes, and upload them following team processes. Ensure specs, pattern corrections, and previous patterns are filed and organized in binders as per company guidelines.
Package Coordination:
Assist with opening packages and distributing items, ensuring receipt confirmation with the factory. Coordinate and send Friday packages to factories according to the current process.
Market Week Support:
Assist with dressing models for market week appointments for smaller accounts.
Calendar & Process Adherence:
Be aware of and meet all relevant Product Development (PD) calendar dates. Ensure timely and organized communication with the team and other departments. Follow company processes to maintain organized files and archives. Assist with quarterly archive reviews.
End-of-Season Responsibilities:
Assist with filing dropped or discontinued styles in the drop folder for each brand at the end of September and March.
