SCHEDULE: 40 hours, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Pays $80/85K annually DOE

LOCATION: 434 Harrison Ave, Boston MA

Occasional nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. May be required to work Thanksgiving and/or Christmas.

Hybrid option: a minimum of 2 days in the office with additional onsite work required for events, meetings, and donor engagement.

About the Position

The Senior Manager of Content will join Pine Street at an exciting point in the organization’s 55-year history. With a new strategic plan in hand, we are embarking on the largest expansion of supportive housing in our history, reimagining the way we provide emergency shelter, and working to become a more diverse and inclusive organization.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Senior Manager of Content is responsible for developing compelling written content for a variety of print, digital, and fundraising communications to engage, educate, and motivate donors, the community, and elected officials to support the organization. A strong relationship builder, the Senior Manager will gather and write stories from across the organization that represent the breadth and scope of Pine Street Inn’s work and impact.

The ideal candidate will bring a commitment to Pine Street’s mission to end homelessness, along with creative vision, excellent writing and editing skills, and a collaborative approach.

The Senior Manager of Content will join a growing Marketing/Communications team and work closely with other members of an established Advancement department encompassing Marketing/Communications, Development, and Volunteer Engagement.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Write clear, compelling content for a variety of media, including print newsletters, brochures, annual reports, e-newsletters, websites, videos, press releases, fundraising appeals, op-eds, speeches, and event speaking points to support Pine Street.
  • Align storytelling to illustrate and bring to life Pine Street’s mission and positive impact in the greater Boston community, emphasizing the organization’s strategic priorities.
  • Adhere to the style, tone, and messaging consistent with Pine Street’s comprehensive messaging platform.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization to inform content production.
  • Track production calendar to ensure on-time project delivery.
  • Serve as copy editor for key written materials produced across the department.
  • Coordinate Pine Street’s most up-to-date data points to help reinforce a story.
  • Stay apprised of homelessness data, policies, and solutions regionally and nationally, to inform content.
  • Communicate production deadlines across the Advancement department.

Knowledge/Experience Required

  • 3-5 years of experience in content development, writing, and/or communications, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • Proven experience creating and editing content across multiple platforms, including print, digital, and fundraising materials.
  • Experience managing content production calendar to ensure timely delivery on projects.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt writing style to match organizational tone and voice.
  • Skilled at building relationships across departments to gather stories and data to accurately represent Pine Street’s multi-faceted organization.
  • Self-motivated team player with an ability to communicate in a positive way and effectively partner with stakeholders.
  • Authentic commitment to Pine Street’s mission and ability to articulate the case for support to diverse stakeholders.
  • Flexibility and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Sense of humor.

Preferred

  • Experience in an organization without a natural constituency, in the human service sector.
  • Knowledge of homelessness issues and related policies.
  • Familiarity with fundraising and donor engagement content strategies.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
