About the Role
As an Acquisition Editor, you will play a pivotal role in managing and expanding a subject portfolio of books for the global academic and professional market. You will be assigned to one of our Energy programs. This role requires some experience in, and an understanding of, the STM market. You will have strong analytics skills, and the ability to prospect for and collaborate with PhD-level authors.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Acquisition: Identify projects in line with strategy, prepare project acquisition business cases and proposals, negotiate contracts with authors, and acquire over 30 high-quality new or revised book projects per year.
- Publication Strategy: Lead on developing and executing a 5-year subject portfolio strategy based on data and analytics.
- Relationship Management: Maintain successful relationships with authors, editors, and advisers.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues in Production and Operations, and work with Commercial teams.
- Timely Delivery: Support content management colleagues to ensure on-time and on-budget publication of titles.
Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Content Acquisition Expertise: Preferred but not required experience in content acquisition and development processes.
- Market Insight: Experience with global academic, professional, and post-graduate level customers in the English language STM market.
- Analytical Proficiency: Analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis.
- International Collaboration: Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Communication Skills: Excellent networking, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt in a rapidly evolving organization.
