Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking to hire a Photographer for Inkblot.
70% Photography
- Keep up with Basecamp to see which events could be well served by having a photographer present.
- Manage an ASUN photo-sharing website, Flickr.
- Take staff pictures or other photos whenever requested.
- Manage the camera equipment.
- Write it down whenever a camera is taken.
- Propose new ways photography could be better used to promote ASUN at the end of each semester.
- Take at least 100 photos at each event and edit at least 50.
20% After-Photo Maintenance
- Fill out data sheet after each time holding a photoshoot, shooting an event, staff or taking stock photos.
- Drop footage immediately after events.
- Keep photos organized on the server so no stock photos are being lost.
- Recognizing opportunities to change out photos on display on ASUN website - change every two weeks or as necessary.
- Maintain stock photos and plan photoshoots whenever possible around campus.
10% Miscellaneous Tasks
- Assist other employees whenever requested (within reason).
- Work with Social Media Manager and video to cross-promote through YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
Responsibilities
- Attend ASUN events and take photos.
- Make sure the photos being taken are from a marketing perspective and represent ASUN and the undergraduate students.
- Ensure photos of students in Nevada gear are captured.
- During “slow” periods, take stock photos around campus.
- Sign out equipment when using it.
- Take staff pictures.
- Take stock photos of campus.
- Post on Basecamp and check regularly.
- Understand and abide by Inkblot, ASUN, and University standards.
Required Qualifications
- Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno.
- Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of photography.
- Candidate must have an understanding of photo-editing software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidate should understand how to use Flickr.
- Candidate should understand Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Candidate should have good communication skills.
- Candidate should be able to take direction.
- Candidate should be impartial in decision-making.
- Candidate should be able to approach strangers and ask to have their photos taken.
- Candidate should be respectful of the office and its associates.
- Candidate should demonstrate good organization skills.
