DESCRIPTION
We are looking for an Interior Design Assistant to join us, working in all phases of the commercial interiors process through construction to installation and turnover. From the architectural phase through construction completion, you will be producing/updating CAD drawings, managing procurement logistics, managing administration work and sourcing of select FF&E for a variety of multifamily and commercial concepts. This position fits a person who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. We are unusual as we are our own clients. Requirements:ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· A minimum 2-years of experience functioning as a design assistant or interior architect in the multi-family market or similar.
· Work with a small team in all phases of the design process from pre-construction through building completion on several projects at once including but not limited to sourcing and researching new hard & soft goods materials, creating Auto CAD ID sets, procurement related project management, administrative duties and select procurement for new projects as well as FF&E replacement for operating properties, vendor coordination and onsite installation.
· Strong sense of urgency, organization and close attention to detail a must. Excellent communication, research and problem-solving skills a must. Need to be able to react and act presenting information as things arise with possible solutions.
· Maintain up to date and organized shared physical (as needed) and electronic files, primarily in Excel, Word BlueBeam Revu and CAD.
· Generate and maintain ongoing updating of plan sets inclusive of specifications, elevations, custom furniture and millwork, to distribute to architectural partners and construction teams. Plans are developed in AutoCAD following in-house style guidelines.
· Create specifications documents, scope sheets and turnover packages.
· Coordinate, track and document purchases and delivery with local and out of state warehouses and work quickly with vendors for replacements or source new options to present when items arrive damaged or are delayed beyond deadlines.
· Assist with coordination of onsite installation & logistics teams, including construction team, movers, labor, vendors, building management – both local and out of state. Post installation follow up with all parties as required to close out job.
· Take or liaise with construction professionals for accurate field measurements.
· Ordering samples for the library and research new materials.
· Ability to stand, lift, carry, climb, and stoop for extended periods of time and multiple days in a row during installations and warehouse days. Installation requires out of state travel for typically a week at a time.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
Experience with multifamily building types a plus.
Basic understanding of construction process.
Self-motivated and confident problem solver with a positive attitude, taking initiative when needed.
Ability to present and articulate ideas, analyze and problem solve.
Proficient in AutoCAD. Previous experience in BlueBeam Revu, Excel, Word, and Outlook required. In Design/Photoshop and Sketchup a plus.
Out of state travel required.
