Position Title: Director of Development and Communications

Summary/Objective: The primary responsibilities of the Director of Development and Communications are to direct and maintain the development and communications functions of SDSA in a manner that will best support the school’s vision and mission.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Required:

Bachelor of Science/Arts degree from an accredited organization in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Organizational Administration or related field

A minimum of three years successful experience in fundraising, grant writing, and written communications

Working knowledge of Spanish language

Desired:

Master of Science/Arts degree from an accredited organization in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Organizational Administration or related field

Experience in an educational setting

JOB DESCRIPTION

Support Mission and Vision of Salida del Sol Academy

Oversee the fundraising efforts to meet the financial needs of the school as indicated by the Executive Director

Research grants that match the needs of the school, complete grant proposals, monitor grant compliance and reporting compliance by completing and submitting reports to granting institutions

Work with the Assistant Controller to monitor grant funds

Responsible for donor stewardship by providing thank you letters along with updates to donors about the school

Ensure that the school website is kept current and complies with ADA requirements

Write new copy for the school website

Coordinate the review and updating the of the Student/Parent Handbook each year in conjunction with executive staff and the attorney

Coordinate the review and updating of the Staff Handbook each year in conjunction with executive staff and school attorney

Design and disburse annual staff survey, collect responses and analyze and present results to Executive Director.

Design and disburse annual parent/guardian survey, collect responses and analyze and present results to Executive Director.

Develop marketing materials and activities as requested by staff

Assist with high level administrative projects as requested by the Executive Director

Develop and recommend to the Executive Director long-range plans consistent with student growth trends, cultural needs, and the appropriate use of the school’s facilities, and see to the development of long-range plans which are consistent with SDSA Board objectives and the strategic plan.

Work as a liaison with the Weld Community Foundation and Weld Trust and other community philanthropic organizations.

Maintains appropriate lines communication within the school community as directed by the Executive Director.

Assists with public communication and public information as needed and appropriate.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment/ Physical Demands:

Ability to sit for long periods of time, numerous distractions, visual, auditory and ambulatory acuity important

Work is remote with on site work as needed

Additional Qualifications:

Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff

Visual, auditory and ambulatory ability.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Conflict management skills.

Strong organizational skills.

Empathetic.

Knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to perform the function of the position as outlined.

Adequate and verifiable practical knowledge of the technical aspects of grant writing, and grant reporting

Ability to think creatively and identify new programs and improvements as needed.

Benefits: PERA retirement

Salary Range: $48,000-$52,000 annually commensurate with experience #J-18808-Ljbffr
