PRC’s legal team provides Social Security disability and healthcare advocacy to San Francisco residents. Legal services, using a harm reduction model, are provided to the most vulnerable populations in the community, including the unhoused, non-English speaking, active drug-using, and other marginalized individuals. In-house legal services are available in English, Spanish, and Chinese. Interpretation services are available for other languages.
The Legal Advocacy Program provides two kinds of legal services through the Disability Advocacy Program (DAP) and the Equal Access to Healthcare Program (EAHP). Depending on your needs and circumstances, you may be eligible for one or both of these services.

Position Overview
The Communications Coordinator will provide communications, capacity-building, and administrative support to the San Francisco HIV Frontline Organizing Group, Legal Advocacy, and program staff. They will support PRC’s focus on retention and re-engagement efforts under San Francisco’s Getting to Zero initiative and they will support communications and capacity-building efforts through PRC’s Equal Access to Healthcare Program (EAHP). They will work with development and program staff to develop outreach and training materials related to health care benefits systems, care sites, treatment, and healthcare navigation. The Communications Coordinator will also assist in managing the organization’s social media accounts, and maintain consistency in the organization’s messaging to diverse audiences. The Communications Coordinator reports to the Chief of Policy & Government Affairs and works closely with other program staff, primarily the Managing Legal Director.
Position Responsibilities Include:
Collaborate and build positive relationships with community stakeholders, program staff, and outside agencies on various projects to support PRC programs.
Lead efforts to effectively market and promote trainings, workshops, and messaging campaigns through online, print, social-media, and other channels.
Provide administrative support and serve as a direct liaison and facilitator to the San Francisco HIV Frontline Organizing Group (SF HIV FOG).
Collaborate and provide administrative support in the development of training and networking events for San Francisco’s frontline HIV service providers, community members, and other community stakeholders.
Collect, manage, track training and outreach evaluation data.
Assist with the ongoing management, updates, and content creation for PRC’s blog, social media accounts, and website as well as SF HIV FOG’s listserve and social media channels.
Support program outreach efforts to community stakeholders and medical providers about changes to public benefits and health insurance options that may impact people living with HIV.
Manage the creation, distribution, and maintenance of print and electronic materials, including advertisements, resource guides, program flyers, training materials, annual program report, etc.
Assist in the development, creation, and publication of program reports in support of multiple contractual obligations.
Help program staff and/or leadership prepare for workshops, trainings, meetings, guest speaker engagements, and other events to ensure that all communications are accurate and consistent.
Work with leadership to identify and evaluate messaging opportunities and channels.
Participate in meetings for PRC’s internal communications committee.
Assist with other projects as needed/assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, English/journalism, or a related communications field.
1-2 years of marketing, communications, media or public relations experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team.
Exceptional organizational skills, and experience with event planning are strongly preferred.
Experience with the creation, review, redesign, and distribution of promotional materials preferred.
Familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office and Excel, Canva, and Adobe Photoshop.
Ability to work effectively with multiple individuals and manage several projects at one time.
Ability to be sensitive to and work well with low-income individuals, people with psychiatric disabilities, people with HIV/AIDS, people of color, active drug users, people with a history of homelessness or incarceration, sexual minorities and gender minorities.
Knowledge of harm reduction theory and practice as applied to social services agencies and their clients.
Familiarity with mental health issues, HIV/AIDS, state and federal laws and programs impacting healthcare access for people living with HIV, such as ADAP, SSI, SSDI, Covered California, Medicare and Medi-Cal, strongly preferred.
