Fox TV Stations FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.

JOB DESCRIPTION

WTTG/WDCA – Broadcast Stagehand (Per Diem Part-Time)

FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is looking for a part-time Stagehand to join our engineering team. This role works in conjunction with the engineering management team to oversee behind-the-scenes broadcast production projects and studio set designs.

Responsibilities:

1. Handle property and scenery used for live television, including maintenance, repair, placement, and operation of studio scenes, structures, and lighting.
2. Must be competent in the use of hand tools and power tools.
3. Comfortable with computers, email, and training on new systems.
4. Work in a fast-paced environment and may travel between locations.
5. Deliver and pick up materials offsite as needed.

Requirements:

1. HS Diploma (or equivalent) required; 2-4 year college/technical degree preferred.
2. Minimum 3 years recent experience.
3. Must have, or be willing to obtain, a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean MVR and insurance.
4. Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
5. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, go up and down stairs, climb ladders, bend, squat/crouch, kneel, and twist.

FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is a 24/7 operation. Candidates must have flexibility in scheduling evenings, early mornings, weekends, as well as working all shifts in a 24/7/365 breaking news environment. Must be able to work overtime, holidays, and varied hours. Candidate will also be required to join the I.A.T.S.E Local 22 union. This position will be for no less than two weeks, with no end date determined at this time.

FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus operates out of state-of-the-art studios and facilities in the heart of downtown Bethesda, MD. Our studios air the most hours of local news each week throughout the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and surrounding areas. Employees have access to the onsite fitness center and building accommodations.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role is: $31.53 per hour. We provide Freelancers medical/dental/vision insurance and 401k after they meet eligibility criteria and any State required time-off. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
