Amalgamated Sugar Company is seeking a Designer to prepare clear, complete, and accurate working plans and detailed drawings from rough or detailed sketches, laser scans, or notes for engineering and/or manufacturing purposes, per specified dimensions. This position will report to the Engineering Manager.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Must be familiar with computerized drafting methods; AutoCad or AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Familiarity with laser scanning, point clouds, and the ability to use for layout drawings or modifications of existing plant equipment.
• Begin to develop layout options under the direct supervision of the Plant or Staff Engineer.
• Ability to interpret drawings, sketches, and blueprints into useable designs. Ability to produce drawings and designs for mechanical, structural, steam, water, and process piping, electrical, and controls.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy and documentation of each project.
• Begin to develop and maintain accurate bill of materials for each design drawing.
• Ensure drawings are accurately dimensioned based on information supplied.
• Properly illustrate design specifications in a readable, appropriate manner.
• Draw charts for representation of statistical data.
• Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
• Revise or update existing design drawings.
• Maintain accurate and timely records of drawing numbers and titles.
• Ability to verify construction dimensions and locations, and answer construction field questions relating to approved design drawings.
• Assist with various drafting duties related to engineering designs.
• Occasional travel to various factory locations.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other technology training.
• AND five (5) years' experience in drafting related positions.
• OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Experience and training on AutoCad, Navisworks Freedom, piping drawings, & structural layouts in AutoCAD 3D.
• Extensive knowledge of drafting procedures.
• Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and functions.
• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
