This position works at the Bennett Martin Public Library (136 S 14th Street, 68508). This is a downtown/urban location. Hours: Full time; 40 hours per week as scheduled; will include day, evening and weekend hours. This position is deemed exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and may occasionally require work more than 40 hours in a work week though every effort is made to minimize those situations. This position is eligible for benefits.
This Librarian position is primarily responsible for managing Youth Services activities at the Bennett Martin Public Library including programs, services, collection development, and outreach. The Librarian is responsible for creating a comfortable and positive atmosphere for library customers and staff, acting as a resource person for the adult and youth areas, providing outreach to the service area and planning youth programs. The Librarian acts as a facility supervisor on a rotating basis, supporting front-line staff and enforcing rules and policies with staff and customers.
Scheduled work hours will be assigned and could be during any of the following times: 8:00am to 8:15pm Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 6:15pm Friday and Saturday, and 11:00am to 8:15pm Sunday. Schedules will vary week-to-week, and this position will be required to work daytime, evening, and weekend hours. Evenings and weekends are assigned quarterly, but it is not unusual to work two evenings a week and two weekends a month. While all positions are assigned to a primary branch or service unit, staff may be assigned to work at any branch location. Hours may be assigned at multiple branches in a single workday.

Qualifications: Master's degree in an ALA accredited library science program, and at least 2 years' experience in a library or customer service setting, or equivalent.
To be eligible for insurance benefits, employees must work at least 30 hours per week.
To be eligible for the retirement plan, employees must work at least 20 hours per week.
Temporary, seasonal, and unclassified employees are not eligible for benefits.
