About the Organization: The Executive Office of Economic Development (EOED) is a Secretariat within the executive branch of the Commonwealth responsible for directing and executing the Governor’s agenda on economic, community and business development, job creation, consumer affairs, and business regulation. About the Role: The Deputy Director of Communications of the Executive Office of Economic Development (EOED) works closely with the Director of Communications to assist with the coordination of communications, social media, and press outreach across the secretariat, the planning and execution of public events involving EOED and the Governor’s Office, and the preparation of briefing documents for the Secretary or Governor’s Office as needed. Duties and Responsibilities:
(these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive) Respond to and initiate EOED media inquiries, ensuring a consistent Administration message and coordinated response. Prepare drafts of remarks, speeches, talking points and press releases, as requested by the Undersecretary as well as the Secretary, Governor’s Office or Lieutenant Governor’s Office when directed by those offices. Coordinate all activities with the Secretary’s, Governor’s or Lt. Governor’s communications staff on matters related to EOED. Manage EOED events that include the Undersecretary, EOED Secretary, Governor, and/or Lt. Governor. Draft all event briefings in coordination with the Director of Communications. Participate in relevant policy or strategy meetings and draft documents as requested. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Outstanding writing skills Ability to write under tight deadlines Ability to clearly summarize and communicate complex programs and issues Ability to effectively communicate and engender trust within the media community Understanding of social media Ability to learn quickly Ability to establish collaborative relationships internally and externally Application Requirements: All applicants should attach a cover letter and resume to their online submission for this position.
