Digital Marketing Intern

Job Location: Hybrid / 741 8th St SE, Washington, DC 20003

Schedule: 15-20 hours per week, with flexibility around class schedules

Duration: 3-4 months, with possibility of extension

Sasha Bruce Youthwork is the leading provider of homeless youth services in the DC region. Founded in 1974, Sasha Bruce Youthwork (SBY) works to improve the lives of runaway, homeless, abused, and neglected youth and their families in the DC region. We achieve this by providing shelter, counseling, life skills training, and positive youth development activities to over 5,000 youth and their families each year. With 48 years of experience meeting the growing needs of DC's youth and families with innovative programs, SBY is committed to ending youth homelessness.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a creative and analytical Digital Marketing Intern to join our marketing and development team. This role offers hands-on experience in developing and executing digital marketing strategies across multiple channels. The intern will gain practical experience in social media management, website optimization, content creation, and email marketing while contributing to our organization's digital growth.

Key Responsibilities:

The Digital Marketing Intern will assist in managing our organization's digital presence through social media engagement, website content updates, and email marketing initiatives. This position provides comprehensive exposure to digital marketing tools and strategies while developing professional skills in content creation and analytics.

Primary Functions: • Create engaging content, monitor engagement, and analyze performance metrics to support the management and growth of our social media presence across platforms. • Assist in website maintenance by updating content, monitoring analytics, and recommending improvements for user experience. • Create and edit content for various digital channels, including blog posts, social media updates, and email newsletters. • Help build and segment email marketing lists while assisting with campaign development and execution. • Track and report on key performance indicators across digital platforms. • Research industry trends and competitor activities to inform digital strategy. • Assist in the development of marketing materials and visual content. • Assist with third party marketing activations like AwesomeCon and Project Glow. • Support the marketing team with administrative tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in progress, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Proficiency in social media platforms and basic content management systems • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects • Basic understanding of digital marketing principles

Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with social media management tools • Basic knowledge of SEO principles • Familiarity with email marketing platforms • Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Illustrator or other graphic design platforms • Experience with analytics tools

Learning Opportunities: • Practical experience in digital marketing strategy development • Hands-on training with industry-standard marketing tools • Experience in content creation and campaign management • Understanding of marketing analytics and reporting • Professional experience in a business setting
