Design Manager

with expertise in electrical / Mechanical/ MEP engineering and a comprehensive understanding of building MEP systems. This role involves managing complex design projects for industrial, manufacturing, and production facilities, ensuring seamless integration of systems through effective use of Revit, CAD, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes.

As a Design Managers in Megafactory Lathrop, CA, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manage design schedules, cost, engineer drawings that fits Tesla's best value and ensure compliance with local and industry standards. This specific role will be 60% Design/Project management and 40% drafting as needed on Revit, CAD, Bluebeam etc.,

Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with manufacturing and production end-users to understand building infrastructure requirements for manufacturing lines, tools, and processes, and translate these into detailed, efficient engineered design solutions. Develop electrical and MEP design basis and designs for tool installations, ensuring proper integration with existing infrastructure and compliance with applicable codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA, California Building Code). Leverage Building Information Modeling (BIM) to create coordinated 3D models, conduct clash detection by collaborating with the BIM team, and ensure streamlined construction and installation workflows. Act as the technical liaison between design teams, end-users, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of design objectives and operational needs. Manage and oversee the design process, including creating basis of design, detailed drawings, conducting reviews, and VE designs for constructability and cost-effectiveness. Conduct field verifications, site assessments, and as-built documentation to ensure the accuracy of designs and their implementation on-site. Coordinate multidisciplinary efforts to integrate electrical and MEP systems seamlessly within manufacturing and production facilities. Provide technical guidance and leadership to junior engineers and design technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative design environment. Ensure all designs meet quality, safety, and performance standards and are prepared in accordance with permitting and regulatory requirements. Work closely with procurement teams to align design specifications with vendor capabilities and installation requirements. Support the installation and commissioning of tools and equipment, addressing design-related challenges during execution. Ability to make presentations, project execution pathways, Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical or related discipline is required). 6+ years of experience in design management, engineering design drawings with a focus on electrical systems and MEP integration in industrial or manufacturing environments. Proficiency in Revit, CAD, and Building Information Modeling (BIM), with a strong understanding of model coordination, clash detection, and 3D visualization techniques. In-depth knowledge of MEP systems and their integration within industrial or production facilities. Familiarity with California-specific codes, local jurisdiction codes and permitting processes. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong verbal and written communication skills for engaging with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders. Flexibility to work overtime as required to meet project deadlines. Preferred experience includes working in manufacturing, production, or industrial facilities and knowledge of energy-efficient and sustainable design practices. Additional Details:

This position will be a 6 month staff aug position with a possibility of Contract to Hire (C2H) based on performance, fit, skills etc., showcased in the 6 month period This role requires full-time presence in

Lathrop, CA , with occasional travel to Fremont (mileage reimbursed per company policy). The position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, driving innovation in industrial design while collaborating with a dynamic team. Preferably no more than 1 week of continuous vacation time during this period Ability to work OT as needed by the project/team Timings: Flexible, but preferred to be available with the team: 8:30pm to 5:30pm PST
