OCB International Multimedia Journalist - Level II - Social Media Producer
Duties:
- Manages and oversees content for social media, ensuring alignment with OCB's digital strategy and editorial objectives.
- Publishes and schedules posts across various social media platforms using management tools.
- Utilizes diverse content forms such as images, videos, GIFs, blog posts, and infographics.
- Analyzes social media performance data to refine and enhance content strategies.
- Monitors social media trends and sentiment to discover potential story opportunities.
- Writes platform-specific share texts to engage audiences effectively.
- Optimizes content for both social media and search engines to improve visibility and engagement.
- Engages with user comments and tips on social media.
- Updates the website with wire stories and videos when necessary.
- Creates original stories as required.
- Curates and adapts content from various sources when needed.
- Adheres to VOA/OCB's Journalistic Standards Guide and maintains high journalistic integrity.
- Selects and edits multimedia elements to enhance news value on digital and social media platforms.
- Reviews and incorporates photos, audio, and video clips to complement news articles on the website.
- Contributes to creating production elements such as graphics, maps, timelines, and animations.
- Ensures compliance with copyright restrictions.
- Collaborates on distribution strategies, audience engagement, and various internet activities including email, chat, blogging, and user-generated content management.
- Moderates and responds to audience comments and questions in Spanish.
- Assesses audience engagement and provides insights to management.
- Coordinates live streaming of OCB programs and live chat sessions on various platforms (e.g., Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, Instagram, X, Web).
- Utilizes social media as a reporting tool and digital analytics to explore content ideas.
Knowledge and Language Proficiency:
- Demonstrates a broad understanding of American history, culture, and current socio-political and economic developments, including U.S. foreign policy towards Cuba.
- Possesses detailed knowledge of Cuba's history, culture, and socio-political and economic context.
- Required fluency in both Spanish and English.
Skills:
- Strong storytelling and copywriting abilities.
- Proficient with social media management tools.
- Experienced in content optimization for social media.
- Knowledgeable in SEO for news stories and videos.
- Basic skills in editing software such as Adobe Photoshop.
- Familiarity with video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or similar.
