Pretlow Anchor Branch Library team. The Library Associate I PT position assists with general library duties such as performing circulation activities of checking in and out materials, reserving material requests, registering new patrons, coordinating interlibrary loans. Provides customer service with assisting with computer and printing. Performing general reference duties of searching of databases and other resources to retrieve information and recommend reading materials. The Library Associate I will assist with library programming. Departmental Hiring Salary Range: $19.95/hr Essential Functions Essential functions include but are not limited to: Provides customer service by assisting patrons with using library materials and services including reference questions involving resources in print and electronic formats, Internet and database searching, and community information. Serves on the public service desks and participates in the roving model of service throughout the library. Performs administrative duties by preparing and analyzing statistical reports, assisting with outreach activities, and participating in the system-wide committees as assigned. Assists library supervisors with opening and closing of facility as need arises. Participates in collection development. Provides Reader’s Advisory assistance. Assists with operation of Maker Studio space at Pretlow May participate in program planning, displays, and/or other library projects as assigned. Other duties and special projects as assigned. Education/Experience Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. One year of experience in library or related services. Three years of experience in library, research or related services, including supervisory and/or management experience preferred. Retirement If you are hired October 5, 2010, or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction. If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction. The Tuition Assistance Program is established to encourage employees toward continued self-development and education. Permanent full-time and permanent part-time classified, unclassified permanent, full-time special projects, and constitutional employees who have completed six months continuous service will be eligible to apply.
