Position: Public Address Announcer
Location: Hertz Arena, Estero, Florida
Season: 2025-26 Season (Home Games including playoffs)
Job Overview:
The Florida Everblades Professional Hockey Club is seeking an enthusiastic and charismatic Public Address Announcer for all home games during the 2025-26 season. The PA Announcer will play a pivotal role in enhancing the fan experience by providing clear, engaging, and exciting announcements throughout the games.
Responsibilities:
- Announcements: Clearly and accurately announce game starts, player introductions, penalties, goals, and other key game events.
- Fan Engagement: Engage the audience with fun, spirited commentary and encourage fan participation in game-time activities and promotions.
- Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor on the microphone, ensuring announcements are made with appropriate tone and timing.
- Pre-Game Preparation: Review game scripts, player rosters, and promotional materials in advance to ensure accuracy and smooth delivery.
- Special Events: Participate in and announce for special events or themed nights as directed by the team's management.
- Equipment Management: Work with technical staff to ensure the sound equipment is functioning correctly before and during games.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience as a PA announcer or in a similar role (e.g., broadcasting, theatre, public speaking) is highly desirable.
- Voice and Diction: Must have a clear, strong voice with excellent articulation and the ability to project enthusiasm without shouting.
- Hockey Knowledge: A deep understanding of hockey rules, terminology, and team/player recognition is crucial.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with other game-night staff including the master of ceremonies, technical crew, and team management.
- Availability:*Must be available for all home games, which could include evenings, weekends, and holidays during the hockey season.
Skills:
- Excellent command over voice modulation and pacing.
- Ability to read the crowd and adapt announcements to enhance the game atmosphere.
- Strong organizational skills to manage game notes and announcements.
- Quick thinking and adaptability to handle live game scenarios.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during games.
- Capability to work in a loud, fast-paced environment.
Compensation:
- Competitive per-game rate, with potential for additional compensation during playoffs or special events.
