This position can be considered for an alternate work location for no more than three days per week.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The primary responsibility of the Graphic Designer position is to create cohesive sets of visual communication vehicles (from concept to industry standard prepress and digital files) for direct mail offers, promotions, and specials (e.g., restaurants and hotel). Designer will take portraits and product photos as needed to support projects. Designer will also be expected to contribute to website asset design and maintenance, social media graphics and posting, other content management, internal communications, and digital communication projects in collaboration with the advertising design team, other team members, and outside vendors.

This position ensures confidentiality of guest, team member, and LEC&H information, and promotes positive guest and team member relations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required and outstanding guest service to fellow team members, guests, vendors, etc. is expected. Regular attendance is required, and on occasion, later hours or weekend time may be required with project deadlines. A neat, well-groomed, professional appearance is essential at all times.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential function of the Graphic Designer includes but not limited to:

  • Design a variety of layouts and assets including, but not limited to:
    1. Print Design
      • Direct mail: postcards, self-mailers, enveloped, non-standard…
      • Wide format: banners, wallpapers, vehicle wraps, window clings, dimensional displays…
      • Collateral: brochures, folders, business cards, table tents, posters, flyers, menus…
    2. Digital Design: images for website, social media, and other static displays
    3. Photography: portrait, product, interior/exterior…
  • Oversee production process for all assigned jobs from conception to placement.
  • Maintain quality control and review all files prior to production.
  • Oversee brand standards in type specification, color quality, inspection, and approval of proofs to ensure high quality outcome within time constraints for property marketing collateral.
  • Work independently on tasks and collaboratively on strategy and content development.
  • Prioritize and track the specifications, progress, timelines, and other project variables of all assigned projects.
  • Help walk the property and ensure all signage is up to date and frames and other signage is stored appropriately between uses.
  • Archive and maintain files and create reports as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments as assigned.
  • Engage in professional development as needed to stay current in communication design, web development, and design-related computer hardware and software needs.
  • Interact effectively with fellow team members and guests to support the Lucky Eagle Casino & Hotel’s Mission Statement to “deliver memorable and rewarding experiences through heartfelt service.”
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

BS or BA in Design (or equivalent), plus two years of experience as a graphic designer OR Associate degree in Graphic Design, plus four years of experience as a graphic designer OR seven years of professional experience as a graphic designer.

SKILL, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A portfolio of work demonstrating skills and knowledge is required for the position.
  • Prior experience working in/with casinos and/or public attractions preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of graphic design, typography, and production, as well as marketing and branding strategies used in print and digital media.
  • Demonstrated understanding of design as a communication tool.
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and communication skills, including exacting attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite programs: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Working knowledge of lighting and photography.
  • Working knowledge of web programming languages, including HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and PHP.
  • Working knowledge of standard office software including Microsoft Office.
  • Prior experience leading projects from concept to completion in a deadline-driven environment preferred.
  • Experience with both portrait and product photography preferred.
  • Experience with motion graphics, audio, video, and copywriting are a plus.

Must be a minimum of 21 years old and have the ability to obtain and retain a Washington State Class III Gaming License; successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.

This position requires the completion of a skills assessment as part of the interview process.

The environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member may encounter while performing the essential functions of the position.

Primarily indoors and may be exposed to heavy smoke and fluctuations in temperature while in and around the Casino and/or Hotel. May also, from time-to-time, be exposed to noise from slot machines, customers, music and public announcement systems, as is common in a Casino and/or Hotel environment.
