Job Description

Cardinal Staffing is immediately hiring a Tool Designer for a large, well-known manufacturing client in Roseville, MI.

The Tool Designer is responsible for creating and developing precise tooling designs for manufacturing processes. This role involves collaborating with engineers and production teams to ensure that tools meet customer specifications, improve efficiency, and adhere to quality standards.

1st shift Available start time 7am. Occasional overtime is available.

Pay up to $20/hr depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Tool Design Development: Create detailed designs for jigs, fixtures, molds, and dies using CAD software, ensuring alignment with production and customer requirements.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to gather requirements and provide design solutions.
Material Selection: Recommend materials and methods for tooling construction to ensure durability and cost-effectiveness.
Problem Solving: Address design challenges and provide innovative solutions to improve tooling performance and efficiency.
Documentation: Generate detailed technical drawings, 3D models, and specifications for tooling designs.
Testing and Validation: Oversee the testing of tools to ensure functionality, precision, and compliance with quality standards.
Continuous Improvement: Propose and implement improvements to existing tooling designs and processes to enhance manufacturing performance.

Qualifications:

Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in tool design within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive or aerospace industries.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD).
- Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of material properties and machining processes.
Problem-Solving Ability: Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and improving tooling designs.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and documenting designs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with plastic injection molding, stamping dies, or composite tooling.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
Knowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies such as 3D printing or CNC machining.
