Under general direction, the purpose of the position is to increase profitable sales to new and existing key account customers while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, value, and loyalty. Employees in this classification perform at journey professional level and are responsible for promoting energy efficiency and water conservation to assigned key accounts. Position is the primary point of contact for all issues between key customers and the Marietta Board of Lights and Water, responding to customer needs and expectations. Objective is to identify and compete for potential customers who may choose an electrical supplier and who may be defined as a key account customer.

- Meets with key accounts to identify sales opportunities and develops proposals to sell profitable electric end-use products and services that meet customer needs, increase and retain revenue, and contributes to customer loyalty; assists level I representatives with highly complex or technical issues.
- Analyzes and provides solutions to a variety of customer problems, e.g., reliability, electric/water rates, energy management/efficiency, water conservation, outdoor lighting, power quality, and billing issues.
- Develops annual account plans and value agreements with all assigned accounts to improve customer competitiveness, efficiency, and productivity.
- Develops contacts and strategies to recruit new customers by maintaining positive relations with developers, organizations, professional associations, architects, engineers, contractors, and economic development personnel.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with other utilities, industries, governmental entities, public service organizations, and suppliers.
- Recognizes and competes for potential electrical customers to produce increased revenue and continue sales growth of Marietta Power.
- Provides contract administration to ensure compliance and timely contract renewals.
- Generates complex and specialized correspondence, articles, memos, orders, reports, forms, or other relevant materials.
- Performs a variety of critical record keeping duties, and maintenance of department record keeping and filing systems.
- Participates and maintains responsible positions in civic/professional organizations to promote positive relations.
- Attends seminars, schools, and conferences to keep abreast of current codes, new electro-technology offerings, and their applications to assigned customers.
- Performs related duties as directed
Preferred Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following: marketing, business administration, engineering, or related field and (5) five to (7) seven years of marketing and negotiating experience. Utility marketing and account management experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education, skill, and experience may be considered.
- Excellent sales skills and ability to anticipate and satisfy customer needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to establish positive relations with BLW customers, developers, organizations, associations, architects, engineers, and contractors.
- Knowledge of and skill in the use of computer database management techniques. Ability to use MS Office Suite including EXCEL, POWERPOINT, WORD, OUTLOOK, Internet, and dBase.
- Knowledge and skill with business statistics, including ability to collect/assemble, evaluate, and present/report marketing statistics.
- Ability to analyze BLW costs and revenues for each existing and potential customer.
- Knowledge of Electrical Service Territorial regulations and ability to learn the Georgia Electrical Service Territorial Act within working test period.
- Knowledge and skill in current marketing and advertising techniques, including the ability to design, develop and implement annual marketing programs, plans and strategies. Understanding of the competitive utility environment, ability to manage multiple tasks, and the ability to work as an effective team member.
- Knowledge of electrical, water, and sewer operations.
- Basic knowledge of utility engineering practices.
- Possession of a valid Georgia driver’s license and a satisfactory seven-year driving history to include no DUI’s in the last five years.
- Drug screen and credit/criminal history background check at time of hire required.
