Job Summary:

The External Affairs Manager will support Care Alliance’s public relations and community engagement initiatives, advancing our mission by strengthening external communications and deepening connections with the Northeast Ohio community. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this role will enhance the organization’s public image, build relationships with community stakeholders, and execute impactful, community-centered campaigns.

Requirements:

Public Relations and External Communications:

  • Develop and implement strategic external communication plans to highlight Care Alliance’s mission and impact.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, newsletters, and other media materials.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, community organizations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate media appearances, press conferences, and events to foster visibility and support for Care Alliance.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and community feedback to inform future communication strategies.

Community Engagement:

  • Act as a liaison to local community groups, attending events and meetings to build trust and awareness of Care Alliance’s services.
  • Plan and execute community events with the assistance of the Clinical Outreach department, such as health fairs and open houses, to enhance public engagement.
  • Represent Care Alliance at community forums, panels, and public engagements to promote organizational goals.

Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Work closely with internal teams to align messaging and community engagement efforts with organizational objectives.
  • Track and report on metrics for PR and community engagement initiatives, using data to refine strategies.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for events, meetings, and related activities.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in public relations, community engagement, donor relations, or similar roles, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, community leaders, and media professionals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and familiarity with CRM systems for tracking donor and engagement activities.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to attend evening and weekend events as needed.
