JOB DESCRIPTION
Spur Design is seeking an experienced ICT (Telecommunications) Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have 3-10 years of experience in design, with a focus on ICT systems, and proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD. JOB REQUIREMENTS
Provide ICT (Telecommunications) Engineering design and documentation on projects within Spur Design offices including site investigations, contract documentation, and the occasional construction administration. Develop detailed ICT (Telecommunications) Design drawings and specifications from the schematic stage to complete construction documents utilizing Revit MEP or other modeling software. Perform ICT (Telecommunications) Engineering tasks including, but not limited to, production of contract documents, specifications, design narratives, and submission packaging. Be able to understand and apply codes, design guidelines, engineering judgement, company standards, and industry best practices related to personal growth, development, and providing outstanding service to Spur’s clients. Manage prioritizing project work pro-actively and provide program management within a multi-disciplinary project team. Take responsibility for time management of assigned jobs. Keep an accurate daily record of the time spent on each assigned job. Maintain and update office systems including Revit (BIM) libraries, filing systems, and project management tools. Travel for, but not limited to, site visits, professional collaborations, and satellite office visits. Work with the ICT (Telecommunications) Director and ICT (Telecommunications) design team to contribute toward the improvement of Spur Design’s methods and processes. Attend office meetings and report on a regular basis regarding the progress of individual projects. Support requests for assistance related to marketing, project interviews, level of effort estimates, and project proposals. Strives to ask questions, learn next steps, and for continued growth and knowledge in the field. At all times be a good steward for Spur both inside and outside the office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work as part of an MEP design team to provide ICT (Telecommunications) engineering and design support on a variety of building projects: Can recognize and assess most ICT (Telecommunications) building systems, types, and utilities. Under the tutelage of Senior staff, design systems such as: Structured Cabling, Telephony, Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP), Nurse Call, Audio-Visual, Fire Alarm, Access Control, and Video-Surveillance systems for building related construction projects. Perform QAQC of production work conducted by more junior level staff. Preparation of ICT (Telecommunications) construction documentation including drawings, design narratives, and specifications under the tutelage of Senior Staff. Knowledge of codes and standards such as ANSI-TIA, BICSI, Unified Facilities Citeria, NFPA 70 National Electrical Code, NFPA 72 Fire Alarm Code, and NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, as well as construction drawings and specifications. Proficiency with REVIT and Auto-CAD modelling design. Perform and/or review REVIT and Auto-CAD modelling designs. Works on multiple small to large sized projects with tutelage from Senior Staff. Applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks. Ability to affectively communicate with the clients and design teams under the tutelage of Senior Staff. Able to select and size most equipment. Performs submittal reviews under the tutelage of Senior Staff. Answer RFIs and CA related questions under the tutelage of Senior Staff. Conduct ASI documentation and design as needed under the tutelage of Senior Staff. Specification editing under the tutelage of Senior Staff. Coordinate project information and designs with architects and other engineering disciplines. Performs occasional field work or direct junior staff. Performs project site investigations regularly. Conducts interpretations of drawings, standards, codes, and other similar materials. Completes engineering duties on projects of various complexities as assigned by the senior engineering staff. Collect data and gather information to support design decisions. Occasional solitary client interaction.
QUALIFICATIONS
3 – 10 yrs Design Experience in the construction industry or related field 3-5 yrs ICT Specific Design Experience High-School Diploma required. Degree in a related field, actual field experience with direct correlation, or training through a vo- tech program is preferred. BICSI Member Have the knowledge, understanding, and ability to navigate construction specifications and documents. Have the ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings. Have the knowledge of ICT (Telecommunications) building systems and guidelines. Have the knowledge of the Owner-Architect Agreement, Owner-Contractor Agreement, and Architect- Consultant Agreements Able to balance project deadlines and be responsiveness to project changes High level of organizational skills and ability to follow-through Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high attention to detail. Proficiency with various software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Bluebeam, etc.
