Position Overview
As a UI Visual Designer, you are responsible for leading and executing user-centered design within your digital product's journey(s). You own, make space for, and advocate for the user’s needs. You ensure your work meets user and business needs, brand standards, and UX and UI best practices. You employ user research, usability testing, empathy, and communication skills to make the case for the user-centered design recommendations you make. You create and deliver information architecture, flows, prototypes, and UI specs that result in great digital products.
Responsibilities
- Be the design owner, stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the product owner.
- Plan and perform evidence-based user experience design activities to ensure that your product’s customer value and business outcomes are aligned, and realized.
- Facilitate collaboration to see things from different perspectives by involving relevant stakeholders and teams, and co-create with users and stakeholders all over the world.
- Develop a deep understanding of your product’s business and user needs.
- Refine lo-fidelity flows into high fidelity prototypes and final specs.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders about design decisions.
- Support Design Ops standardizing best methods, practices and assets.
- Coach and share knowledge on design methods, tools, and trends with your fellow colleagues.
- Mentor more junior designers.
- Proficient in using design tools such as Mural and Figma.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 5 years of information systems/information technology experience
OR
- Master’s degree
- At least 3 years of information systems/information technology experience
OR
- At least 7 years of information systems/information technology experience
Additional Requirements
- Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. - Demonstrable prior experience leading high quality UX products.
- Portfolio: Strong case studies and relevant work samples.
- Ability to shepherd stakeholders and work through the UX process from discovery through release; Agency experience a plus.
- UX Writing: Must write precise UX copy in US English well.
- Create and present case studies for projects.
- Be open to feedback, iteration, and suggestion.
- Stay curious, maintain a learner’s mindset.
- Be highly organized and drive order in files, process, and artifacts.
- Persistent design validation with users.
- Formal education and/or demonstrable practical learning experience in design thinking, relevant humanistic fields, and/or design subjects.
