Position Title: Student Social Media Content Producer, Marketing and Communications

Responsibilities:

  • Assist staff member (with potential grow to lead) in photo and video shoots for M&C social content
  • Edit photographs in Photoshop
  • Edit graphics in Adobe InDesign or Canva
  • Edit videography in Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Assist with the digital process of photography, video, and work release forms
  • Developing ideas on what content to create for social media
  • Other tasks as assigned

This is a great opportunity for a social media-savvy and creative student to work in a professional environment elevating The New School’s online presence by highlighting what makes the university unique. You will collaborate with our team to develop social media content and series, work as a photographer and videographer, and edit content, which will provide you with experience in the in-demand skills of digital production. M&C places a high value on the talents, knowledge and ideas of our student assistants in a very tangible and meaningful way.

The Student Assistant and the Senior Manager of Digital Engagement will work out a schedule that is conducive to both, but one that can be flexible depending on the academic calendar and the team need. Applicants should anticipate working up to 15 hours per week. Applicants need to maintain a reasonable but dedicated schedule and preferably have the ability to commit to at least one year in the position.

Work Mode: Hybrid/Split – Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (e.g., 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely.

Wage Range: Payment is $18/hour, commensurate with applicant’s experience and skill level.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a current student graduating in Fall 2025, Spring 2026 or beyond
  • Must be proficient in Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere Pro
  • Must be proficient in Canva or able to learn
  • Ability to balance school and work assignments and flexible with the capability to multitask
  • Organized, communicative, and cooperative while working in team
  • Skills in editing, videography, and on-set experience
  • Commit to a typical workload of 10-15 hours per week
  • Familiarity with filming and photographing with iPhone and mirrorless digital cameras
  • Must possess the presence on set with the ability to carry equipment
  • Knowledge of or prior experience with social media content creation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • On-set experience as a PA or AP
  • Camera and sound mixing experience is a plus
