The Marketplace Services team within APS is responsible for improving publisher yield through connecting them with leading third-party SSPs and DSPs and continuously optimizing their traffic through our 3PB program, connect the publishers with industry leading services and technology providers (vendors) to enhance their signal fidelity on the bidstream through our Connections Marketplace (CxM) program and provide industry-first measurement and analytics capability on the impact of bid stream signals through our Signal IQ program.

As a Senior Applied Scientist on the team, you will pioneer Signal impact measurement solutions, and traffic optimization solutions end-to-end from inception to production. You will propose, design, analyze, and productionize models to provide actionable insights to our publisher customers to improve their yield, while also helping package traffic to improve spend from our top Third party buyers. You will provide integration insights between publisher and vendor connections, and publisher to buyer connections and automate anomaly detection and alarms. You'll educate the business teams (SPMs, Product) on detection and prevention techniques to maintain ad-spend.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Work with a cross-functional team of Product, Engineers, BIEs and scientists to advance signal impact measurement solutions and packaging capability leveraging artificial intelligence, causal inference, natural language processing and large language models.
  2. Directly contribute to the end-to-end delivery of production solutions through careful designs and owning implementation of significant portions of critical-path code.
  3. Lead the decomposition of problems and development of roadmaps to execute on it.
  4. Set an example for others with exemplary analyses; maintainable, extensible code; and simple, effective solutions.
  5. Influence team business and engineering strategies.
  6. Communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders to drive alignment and build consensus on key initiatives.
  7. Foster collaborations between scientists to move faster, with broader impact.
  8. Actively engage in the development of others, both within and outside the team.
  9. Regularly engage with the broader scientific community with presentations, publications, and patents.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience.
  2. PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience.
  3. Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
  4. Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.
  2. Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.
